I recently visited Hong Kong<\/a> with my seven year old daughter Lottie and four year old son Sol. We had a great time exploring the vibrant city and trying lots of local food. Here are my Top tips for fun things to do in Hong Kong with kids:<\/p>\n

1. Visit the Zoological and Botanical Gardens<\/a>.<\/strong> One of the oldest in the world, the gardens are located on the Victoria Peak mid-levels. They\u2019re a beautiful place to explore, with stunning flowers, birdlife, fountains and a children\u2019s park.<\/p>\n

2. Ride the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car up to the Tian Tan Big Buddha<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 the largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue in the world. Once up the top my kids loved walking around the cultural site and learning about different religions.<\/p>\n

3. Get your theme park fix at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort<\/a>.<\/strong> There are seven lands in the park \u2013\u202fAdventureland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, Toy Story Land, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.\u00a0Also check out Main Street USA, which is filled with shops, Disney characters and live music.\u00a0My kids loved the parade, a definite must-see.<\/p>\n

4. Explore Hong Kong by water<\/strong> and catch a ferry<\/a> to either Cheung Chau or Lamma Island. Cheung Chau is known for its famous bun festival in May. My kids bought some bun key rings for their friends from Cheung Chau.

\n5. Visit Victoria Peak.<\/strong> We caught the Peak Tram<\/a> up to the lookout, which is an adventure in itself.\u00a0It was a clear day and we were able to take in the incredible view the whole way. Tickets are sold at the tram lower level terminus and you can choose between single or return. The sky terrace doesn\u2019t open until 10am on weekdays. Keep in mind you can\u2019t see much of a view unless the Sky Terrace is open, so if you\u2019re up out and about early with the kids you might be too early to take in the view.<\/p>\n

6. Taste the local flavours.<\/strong> Dining Options are extensive in Hong Kong; you can find every cuisine under the sun, from Korean to Italian. My children have tried dumplings\/dim sum at homein Australia and love them, so while we were in Hong Kong we ate them a lot. Even the ones from the casual restaurant chain Crystal Jadewere great and always in a convenient location, including shopping centres and even at the airport. Sometimes while you\u2019re away you just crave a little taste from home too.\u00a0 I love Fineprint Caf\u00e9 in Soho<\/a> for some avocado on toast. The coffee there was also fantastic.\u00a0 If you want to do something a little kooky, visit the Hello Kitty<\/a>-themed restaurant on Canton Road in Jordan. They claim to be leading a new trend in healthy Chinese cuisine with natural and organic ingredients.<\/p>\n

\n7. Be savvy about where you stay.<\/strong> If you plan on visiting the Big Buddha and going to Disneyland, I\u2019d advise staying out near the airport. It\u2019s close to both attractions and the MRT train is very clean, punctual and easy to use when you do want to head into the middle of town. There are incredible hotels<\/a> by the harbour and in central Hong Kong if you would like to stay in the middle of it all.<\/p>\n

Hong Kong was such a fun sensory experience for my kids. I highly recommend it as a family destination.<\/p>\n
