Unique Sleeps: Amazing hotels hand picked by Expedia Experts.<\/em>\u00a0Radisson Blu Plaza Sydney<\/a>, Australia<\/p>\n

When was the last night you stayed at a hotel that had its own gin? Now, I\u2019m not just talking about having Tanqueray or Hendricks as the house pour. Radisson Blu Sydney\u2019s cool factor sky rocketed, at least in my books, when I heard it had partnered with artisan distillers Archie Rose to create \u201cOut of the Blu\u201d. Forget signature scents, this hotel has its very own signature blend and boy is it good.<\/p>\n

And the gin is just the tip of the iceberg. Earlier this year the hotel unveiled a $13.5 million rejuvenation, giving all 336 rooms and 28 suites a freshen up.<\/p>\n

The Radisson Blu has always been on my radar \u2013 the beautiful sandstone building dates back to the 1850s, and was originally the home for John Fairfax and Sons, publishers of The Sydney Morning Herald. To some journalists that makes this building akin to hallowed ground.<\/p>\n

\nAnd then in 2013, Bentley restaurant moved in. Upping sticks from super trendy Surry Hills to a CBD\u00a0hotel, this super swanky restaurant brought with it immediate cool factor. At least to the culinary crowd. Add a special Distiller\u2019s High Tea, pairing Out of the Blu gin, a vodka, and a whiskey, with moreish sweets and savouries (try and steal your partner\u2019s mini steak pie) and who would ever need to leave?<\/p>\n

Aside from what\u2019s on the inside, the Radisson\u2019s location is another big win. With much of George Street decommissioned and roped off for construction, the hotel\u2019s location a few blocks back from the CBD\u2019s main thoroughfare means you can still grab a taxi and zip down to Circular Quay, out to the airport, or to any other parts of the city far and wide, without sitting in too much traffic. But you\u2019d be crazy to take a cab down to Circular Quay since the hotel is just a five minute walk from the harbour. It sits in a sneaky little section of the city that\u2019s ten minutes walk to major landmarks like the Opera House, Queen Victoria Building, Town Hall and several major train stations.<\/p>\n

Perhaps that\u2019s why it\u2019s become a bit of a hotspot for staycationers. Pitt Street Mall is just up the road \u2013\u00a0home to Zara, H&M, Myer, David Jones, Sephora, the list goes on. And so, after a long day sightseeing and\/or shopping, make a beeline for the Fax lobby bar and settle in for a few G&Ts as the sun goes down. Did we mention the festive season\u00a0Gin\u2013gle Bells cocktail?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The Radisson Blu has successfully shifted its vibe from beautiful business hotel to inner city hotspot. The addition of a cutting edge restaurant and extra touches like a bespoke gin go a long way in a city that has dozens of high end hotels.<\/p>\n
