Once the site of the heritage-listed Carlton &amp; United Breweries administration building and the iconic Clare Hotel pub, the adjoining buildings have now been transformed into a stylish boutique hotel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Located on the CBD outskirts, in trendy Chippendale, the 62-room hotel sits alongside bustling Kensington Street \u2013 a street awash with cool bars, restaurants and hidden alleyways. It feels a bit off the beaten path but is less than a 20-minute walk from tourist hubs like Darling Harbour and Hyde Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The suspended metal staircase, cubic window design, scattering of macabre dentist chairs and encased ladder down into the dark basement help the lobby act as a sort of museum or portal into the building\u2019s heritage. Meanwhile, the reception area follows a similar design to the pub with a yellow art deco desk, swinging saloon door and splattering of band posters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\n<p><img src='https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/blog-img\/10_2016\/12524_136_HT' \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The rooms are the real highlight of the show with their tall ceilings and mix of wooden window frames, timber panelling and exposed brick walls that really showcase the building\u2019s origins. The eclectic d\u00e9cor is again a cool combination of modern iron lighting fixtures, heavy machinery lamps, unique armchairs and vintage furniture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The plush super king sized beds are contemporary yet melt-in-the-bed comfortable and the free standing baths and\/or overhead rain showers really add to the New York loft feel of the rooms. But it is the little details that help give that extra quirk factor with the \u2018dirty laundry\u2019 washing bags, Triumph and Disaster bath products and cosy inscribed bathrobes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Clare bar, brimming with locals enjoying an after work beverage, is located beside the reception \u2013 giving guests the perfect opportunity to get a taste of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expedia.com.au\/Sydney.d178312.Destination-Travel-Guides?brandcid=blog.uniquesleeps.oldclare.nsw.author.expedia_211116\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sydney<\/a> life. And in the spirit of mixing the old with the new, the slick rooftop bar complete with heated pool and luxurious lounging deck, provides a perfect contrast to the retro downstairs pub.
