1. There are at least two other people in a room with the same name as you <\/strong><\/h2>\n

My grandmother died when mum was 17, so all of the kids, once they had a daughter are named after her. It\u2019s really hard but also funny for my son Johnas, because I\u2019d go to him here\u2019s Aunty Ada, and then there\u2019d be someone else and I\u2019d be like this is also Aunty Ada, and he\u2019d go \u201cbut that\u2019s your name\u201d. He didn\u2019t really get that!<\/p>\n

2. Your pantry is full of brand new takeaway containers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I\u2019ll have friends over for a big feast, and then bring out the takeaway containers for them to take leftovers home! I can\u2019t help myself! I did that the other day and my friend said \u201cAda, you are your mum all over, not only you\u2019ve just fed us, you\u2019re making us take it home!\u201d What can I say, it\u2019s just something we do!<\/p>\n

3. Aunties always bringing you breakfast<\/h2>\n

Everyday my aunty would come over with fresh goats cheese and sheep milk yoghurt. Every morning you\u2019re eating the most amazing food.<\/p>\n

4. Dinner is at least a three hour affair<\/h2>\n

You don\u2019t go to someone\u2019s house for a quick meal! It takes hours to get through all of the mezedes (traditional small sharing dishes). Souvla, halloumi, sausages, meatballs. It\u2019s always delicious but it always takes hours!<\/p>\n

5. Halloumi is not a big deal but still the best thing on earth<\/h2>\n

Forget tiny cubes of halloumi in salad \u2013\u00a0we eat it by the block and we eat it every day! I\u2019m a massive cheese fan and one morning in Cyprus<\/a> my aunty brought over halloumi straight from a lady that makes it \u2013\u00a0it was still warm, and I ate the whole block! Halloumi is traditionally Cypriot, and you haven\u2019t had it until you\u2019ve had it warm, and in Cyprus. For some reason it takes so much better over there.<\/p>\n

6. Family members are always fighting over you<\/h2>\n

The family s always fighting over who was going to feed us and how many times you\u2019re going over to their house! It\u2019s not even just \u201care you guys coming over tonight\u201d, it\u2019s \u201cwhat are you guys doing for lunch?\u201d<\/p>\n

7. Your Mum is still your favourite cook<\/h2>\n

Friends are always asking for recommendations for good Cypriot food but I never know what to say \u2013 my mum is a really good cook! I\u2019m lucky, she makes all my favourite food for me. Her meatballs and pasta is legendary. Food is such a big part of our culture, it\u2019s what really brings us all together.<\/p>\n
