SYDNEY, May 27, 2025 – With the cold weather starting to bite, Expedia has released its Winter Travel Outlook, revealing where Aussies are travelling, along with tips for those yet to book.
New Expedia data reveals Aussies are in search of warmer climates, heading to Asia and Europe to chase the sun. Bali proves most popular, while Malta tops the list of trending destinations, as Aussie travellers venture beyond the usual hot spots with interest for Milos, Greece and Da Nang, Vietnam on the rise.

“Cost of living and accessibility remain top of mind for Aussies looking to stretch their travel dollars further, and one of our top tips to save is to keep an eye on new flight routes” said Sarah King, Expedia Travel Expert. “Looking at Bali, with new AirAsia flights from Adelaide launching in June and new Jetstar flights from the Gold Coast launching in August, we’re sure to see competitive airfares as the airlines work to attract Aussies from right across the country.”
King continues: “As Aussies get set to benefit from the new Virgin and Qatar partnership this winter, many European destinations have also become more accessible, resulting in a spike in accommodation interest. Malta tops the list, with direct flights resuming from Doha to Malta in July, making it easier and faster for Aussies to get their dose of European sun.”
