Ilchester arms is on the main road through the village of Abbotsbury approx. 15 minutes drive from Weymouth.
On arrival we found the staff friendly and welcoming
Our room looked out onto the road, the decor was plain, with a proper size double bed, a wardrobe and an arm chair. The floor appeared to slope a little, Hot water was a bit slow coming through in the morning. Shower basic with curtain, Towels-fresh laundry smell and soft.
In places the building is in need of a little TLC. lacking attention to detail - e.g. some seats on chairs in dining room saggy, tables in dining area old and starting to split allowing crumbs to be visible in splits in the wood surface, Faded paper signs with curled edges, paper sign with Wi-Fi details in room faded.
Access to the carpark is a bit tight and leaving you are pulling out partly blind to your right onto the main road.
The No frills facilities, are offered at a fair price including parking, wi-fi and cooked breakfast, but are probably not to everyone's taste.
