A place to be in Knysna
An absolutely memorable stay at Knysna Hollow Country Estate, recommended to those who like to stay in a calm, clean, well-located hotel while enjoying facilities. Personnel of hotel are really friendly and helpful.

Superb in all ways - a must stay!
Knysna Hollow Park is a beautiful location. The level of quality of the rooms and service were second to none - the most beautiful accommodation we have stayed at during our South African holiday. Gardens were an absolute treat also.

We loved this hotel! The grounds, rooms, and restaurant were beautiful and modern. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Great location in Knysna along the Garden Route!

This Hotel was recently re-built and radically redesigned. The Room that I stayed in was finished to a particularly high standard and was spotlessly clean. It was quiet and very comfortable. The management have paid fantastic attention to detail, if one needs to use the Bathroom during the night then a light automatically comes on to guide you to the loo! Upon arrival I was greeted in the car park by a member of staff who immediately took my baggage and guided me to Reception, where the check in process was friendly fast and efficient. Dinner was very good (I had a Steak Sandwich with a twist) service again was very good. I do however have one small gripe, I ordered the full breakfast and unfortunately the Sausage was not cooked properly and was pink and raw inside, mistakes happen, and I was offered a replacement breakfast without any problems or back chat. This Hotel is well worth a visit and I was very impressed.

An exceptional hotel
Brand new rooms, well located, rooms set in individual "houses" in beautiful gardens. Two swimming pools. All staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The largest selection of sattelite channels of any hotel I've been too. Fantastic breakfast. On site restaurant "Social" has a wide and varied menu which does not disappoint in taste. All this and very reasonable prices for a property of this exceptional nature.

Fantastic experience
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The property is stunning, the service impeccable, the accommodations clean, new and comfortable, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend Knysna Hollow Country Estate highly enough!

Super Nice Place
Lovely place with super friendly staff. Beautiful hotel within tranquil surroundings. Rooms are neat as a pin and so were the " still new" gardens. Good breakfast and great dinner and lunch menus.

Nice hotel
We stayed only one night. It was a nice hotel, with lovely gardens and pool outside. Everything was great, the room was nice, the staff were friendly, good breakfast buffet. The only thing that bothered us a bit was a strange odor in the bathroom, kind of moth-like, may be found to the lush of green and vegatation around. However, the surrounding of our chalet were lovely and in overall we lime our stay a lot.

Basic Rooms, wi-fi does not connect
Room are vey basic, no water no fridge -- My wi-fi did not work, and when I asked for help to connect the manager turned off my roaming and I got charged over US$50 in roaming charges right away. I could not believe it. Plus, the water did not work at night and there were city road works, screaming and noises from trucks/city workers -- the hotel did nothing, there was no-one at reception. We actually tried to go talk to works and ask to keep noise down, but they were beyond the fence, on the street - so we did not bother to go around. On the good side, staff tried to help initially and the breakfast was ok.

Good but can be improved
Overall our stay at this hotel was pleasant and we enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and housekeeping was good. Although there was no iron in the room, hotel staff were very efficient in ironing the clothes and returning very quickly. The downside of our stay is that the mattress used on the sofa-bed were extremely poor quality and although it was changed after request, it was still not good enough. Also, in a two-bedroom chalet only one had ceiling fan, though a small table fan was provided upon request.

Excellent Value
Excellent staff - professional and very friendly. Very good a la carte restaurant and excellent breakfast choices. Very large and light bed-room in the ultra 'eco' modern block. But no bathtub which was disappointing - as were the two sinks located in the bed-room rather than the bathroom. very strange. We would have preferred an 'African style' thatched cottage that are attractively set in beautiful grounds.(even though it would have been less 'eco'). A regular stopover for coach tourists but well managed and this did not interrupt the peace of this hotel. In summary, very good value and an enjoyable 5 night visit.

Knysna hollow country estate
We had travelled a long way and despite arriving late the staff had a table for us in the restaurant and a drink poured immediately! Very friendly and attentive staff and beautiful surroundings with so much to do just a short drive from the hotel. We drove the garden route and Knysna was my favourite stop. :)

Great stay
We stayed for 3 nights Oct 2015 and had a great time. The Chalet was very comfortable and very spacious. The Staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were delicious.

We really had a very nice stay. We were a little disappointed that there where no dstv channels available on the tv especially sport channels. But, on our last evening it was very cold and wet and we got a complimentary upgrade to a bigger room with a fireplace and we surely enjoyed that. Will recommend the place to anyone.

Lovely retreat, highly recommended
Arrived when the kitchen was shut, however the manager personally made us a sandwich. He was very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and it was a lovely, comfortable place to stay.

Terrible experience - Avoid!
I booked this hotel for 2 nights for my family and I from 1st Jan 2015 and arrived expecting at the very least a clean room. Unfortunately the room we were allocated was very dirty (smelly, dusty, cobwebs, bits of food on the furniture and the bathroom had not been cleaned as it had dead cockroaches in it). We therefore complained and were moved to another room which also had not been cleaned which we then accomodated by leaving the hotel for the afternoon so that they could clean the room! When we returned we again found dead insects in the bathroom. The same smell was in the second room and we were told that it would disappear when the fan was operated as the thatched roof created the very damp smell. This did not happen and as a result we did not sleep all night which meant we were exhausted and angry the following day, so much so that we did not even have breakfast as we were concerned about the hygene at the hotel. We therefore checked out and were charged for 1 nights stay which we were foreced to pay by the hotel but we strongly believe this should be refunded to us (1,600 SA Rands) from either the hotel or Expedia. In fact, we are very surprised that a company such as Expedia can be recommending this hotel on their website. Unsurprisingly I would not be recommending this hotel to anyone I know and urge anyone considering this hotel to look for other options.

Service was very good, most beds are made up as two singles joined together . Bit disappointing. Rooms were a bit musty smelling so just needed to open windows .large rooms. Otherwise everything was very good. Views amazing. Would come back again.

Comfortable tourist type hotel, great location
We stayed one night after having a stay earlier in the week. Good reastaurant, fireplaces in the rooms. We stayed in the cottages since we were the only ones there except for a big bus tour. They seem to cater to bus tours but put them in the main building. There are a dozen or so thatched cottage rooms and we were upgraded to them. Rooms could be cold since all tile and stone, with pitiful heater. Get front desk to have someone make up your fireplace then it is warm ant night, but cold again in the morning.
