An old hotel is fine. An old hotel where your room is above the bar and there is a live band -whoops! - that plays until 3 and they offer you ear plugs is awful. An old hotel where it takes, literally, 15 minutes to get lukewarm water is inexcusable. An old hotel where the toilet doesn’t flush and you tell the staff at 9 and it still isn’t fixed by 8 when you return, is inexcusable. A staff that ‘cleans’ your room by taking away a few obviously used towels and only half the garbage is very poor. And charging $60 to your bill on top of the quoted room cost for an extra person when you have included that person in your original search should be illegal. I’ve booked through Expedia many times and always trusted their reviews. I will think harder next time.

So the good, the location is amazing! Right beside cannery and fisherman’s wharf. The staff was super helpful and pleasent. The pizza place( Steveston pizza co.) right across the street was really good. The bad , unfortunately someone was smoking in the hotel all night and made for an unpleasant night. The staff tried to get him to stop but once they left the lobby/front desk he just kept on puffing away. The hotel doesn’t have anyone at front desk as far as we can tell over night. The manager was super apologetic and helpful after the fact. So all in all the hotel was fine and simple with a great location but think they could have someone over night for issues that arise.

Checked in late in evening so expected staff would be minimal, the person looking after the check in also managed the liquor store downstairs. Once I got into the room I could not get the heater to work but fell asleep anyway. In the morning I had discovered a mouse had attacked my wrapped sandwich on the desk in the room. I left around 7:00 am and was only able to report it to the hotel when staff arrived around 9:00am. They were friendly about it but what was done is done.
