I paid cash during my stay on the last day I asked them to just charge my last meals to the room when I tried checking out they refused to let me leave and said I owed lots of money. I didn’t know what to do so I just gave them my card and they charged it then said they didn’t get that payment either my bank said they did get it I almost missed my flight and had to have money sent from my family. If you stay here just keep receipts if paying cash. Also the resort is very far out and there’s construction next door. Overall a beautiful resort but some scamming or miscommunication with the rupiah and employees

Decent stay with caveats
We stayed at Sankara for 4 days. Pros: Super comfortable deluxe room, great pool, good food, good massages, free shuttle to ubud center Cons: 1. Breakfast was good but wasn't unlimited. I know it's not buffet but guests should be able to order a few extras. I was charged for extra eggs twice. 2. Food was expensive with 20% extra charges. Portion size was small for steaks and chicken 3. No taxis can enter the property if you want to go to places other than ubud center which means you are forced to either walk outside to look for a taxi (which is confusing) or ask Sankara reception who would charge you 4 times the actual price. The staff wasn't helpful in this regards. 4.There was no prayer mat on the property which is shocking considering Indonesia is a muslim country- can't pray on a dirty yoga mat. Summary: Overall the stay was good but the resort was expensive and customer service was average.

Dated but beautiful
The property needs some maintenance but overall is beautiful. The pool villa is the way to go if you like having a private pool. However the villas does not have proper AC for the size. You will be slightly warm. The team there does care and try’s hard. The location is in a quiet area for the most part. There is some construction next door but it wasn’t too disruptive. The food was just ok. There are good food options nearby. Ubud central with traffic will take 25 minutes. Sankara provides a shuttle so that’s nice.

Lovely property but there’s a lot of construction going on in the property and directly next door. There are also a lot of mosquitos since it’s the beginning of the rainy season. The staff are friendly and helpful.

When we checked in we were told about construction happening next door which was out of their control (no problems with that) and a party at the club next door which we were all offered ear plugs for only to have them renovating a room in the resort right behind our villa using a jackhammer for two days straight!! Their only solution was to give us a voucher for a massage. We paid for a 1 bedroom pool villa hoping for some quiet and relaxation. Then on our second last day my husband just got out of the shower when something came off a pal tree and smashed the glass over the shower (clearly not shatterproof as there was glass everywhere) There’s so much construction going on that I wouldn’t stay there if you’re seeking peace and quiet. The best part of the stay was meeting Budhi who drives the shuttles, he is just the kindest most knowledgeable man.

Consider Ubud a junglelike location and so the hotel is in such an area but it is very beautiful. We were welcomed very kindly and the staff were very accommodating. Just be mindful that at the time of our visit, there was nearby construction going on which created a lot of noise and workers were a little intrusive by the pool. Room was a very good size but slightly old in design (it fitted the vibe of a jungle). A lot of YouTube videos online are a true reflection of the rooms. Bathroom was an open style so at times could be very slippery. Out of the 3 hotels I stayed at in Bali, this bed was the best and most comfortable - never had a better night sleep than here. The AC unit was a god send too! One gripe I had were ants in the bathtub and an infestation on the door but they provided ant killer which kept them at bay. Also there were other wildlife like lizards nearby which was a little unsettling. But that is to be expected because of the area. It was very well situated with a free shuttle service to central Ubud. We struggled to eat a lot of the breakfast in the morning and just opted to have cereal instead - our dietary requirements were halal.

Very noisy and felt unsafe. There was no lift so had to climb up and down many steps with my bad knee. Got scared to a big gacko outside my room. Lots of mosquitoes. Food was good, staff helpful. The Sankara Resort was more than we expected. So quiet , peaceful, clean, the staff was amazing. Very conveniently located. We found some amazing Restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely recommend it and will stay again when we are in Ubud again.

Perfect little paradise!!
I had an amazing stay at this absolutely lovely resort. The grounds were lush and gorgeous! I felt like I was tucked away into a little pocket of paradise. The resort staff were ALL amazing and went consistently above and beyond. I would totally recommend. I stayed in the villa with had it's own private pool. The bathroom inlnclude a massive tub and shower AND an amazing bonus open air shower. Lush!!! The only minor con is that this isn't a big chain where everything is perfectly generic, the place shows some gentle wear.

Relaxing stay at an amazing villa
Really enjoyed our stay at the Sankara Resort. Our twin pool villa was big and clean and come with its descent private pool. Breakfast was good and customer service was great. Definitely on the list of places to stay when we are in Ubud.

The property was ok, the staff was really nice and friendly. When I first checked in my lights and the air wasn’t working. I called to the front and told the lady that answer. I don’t know if she didn’t understand me but after I waited to see if someone was going to come; which they didn’t. I had to walk up there. I spoke to someone and they fixed the issue while I was at dinner. Another thing was, they have a live band during dinner time which is cool but my room was the first room that was close to the restaurant. On one particular day I was really tired and really wanted to go to sleep but the band was loud. So try to avoid the first room if you can.

The amazing staff was very personable. We were always greeted with sincerity and kindness. The location was close to the center but far enough from the traffic. Beautiful resort that was both comfortable and luxurious. They offered many activities at no extra expense. The spa experience was inviting and relaxing. Breakfast experience offered both western and Indonesian tastes. Will definitely stay again and recommend this resort to our friends and family!

The Sankara was a serene and lovely resort. The staff a incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant may have been the biggest surprise. The Balinese/Indonesian options were outstanding! Many, many thanks to the chef and restaurant staff. The room was a little dated and the water pressure was a bit lacking, but otherwise we were very comfortable. The pool is lovely and the bar drinks were very nice. The spa was lovely as well and my 90 minute treatment was wonderful. Thanks again to everyone at The Sankara for a terrific stay.

Sankara was in the perfect location not too far from the action. This is near monkey forest downtown where there are local bars and restaurants and the hotel offers free shuttle service p/u & drop off. The room was beautiful we stayed nothing too fancy but the bathroom was huge, only thing is the shower didn't drain as fast as it should. Our last night I surprised my husband with an upgrade to a private 1bd villa w/ private pool which the staff helped me surprise him. Omg it was breathetaking. The infinity pool by the bar was a nice touch. The staff was friendly always asking how our day was and what we were doing for the day. They were accommodating whenever we needed to cancel dinner or plchange pickup time from shuttle p/u. The only con is we weren't big on the breakfast. Don't know if it's a con but it just seemed really bland. It wasn't the end of the world bc we started going out for breakfast.

Beautiful resort with friendly welcoming and trusted staff! Best massage ever at their spa. Perfect for a special occasion and great location with free shuttle to Ubud every hour. Thank you to everyone at Sankara! My only feedback is that the beds and pillows are very firm and could use an upgrade or a mattress pad and better softer pillows to make it more comfortable.

This was my 2nd time staying at Sankara. I loved it so much I booked my stay there again while in Ubud. The staff are what made me return. They are so friendly and accommodating. It is slow paced and relaxed so if you’re traveling from a busy city such as NYC like myself make sure you don’t forget to pack your patience. The grounds at Sankara resort are magical as well. I will definitely return next time I visit Bali again.

I spent six nights at the Sankara resort and spa in Ubud. The type of lodging was a villa with a modest pool that could fit two guests. The villa's garden was one of my favourite parts. To be really honest, I like Ubud better than Kuta or any other Bali area. This is Bali's undiscovered treasure if you appreciate quiet areas. I am astounded by the resort's exceptional service and the fluent English spoken by every staff member, from the receptionist to the housekeeper/cleaner. We appreciate the excellent service provided by Setiawan and Wins at the reception desk. Every time they see you, I am impressed by their grins and gracious greetings. After three years of Covid 19, I'm certain that everyone would miss the good nature, forthrightness, and heartfelt greetings. The hourly shuttle service to Central Coco Market is also quite convenient. Since there isn't a store inside the resort, you can get wine, snacks, and fresh fruit from Coco. You can't miss out on the mouthwatering food served by the resort's restaurant. The cost is quite affordable. I like eating at this place twice a day. You can choose from a wide variety of options on their menu. I've contrasted the menu with one from another upscale resort in Monkey Forest. I can guarantee you the menu at Sankara's is much superior. The villa's interior features simple, tidy traditional Balinese design. The uncomfortable desk and chair are the sole drawback if you need to work from your laptop.

Beautiful hotel with lovely gardens and lovely large rooms but location was a big minus as it’s a good 40 minute walk into town & there’s nothing around the hotel. There is a shuttle bus & that was ok to go into town but very hit & miss returning. I ended up walking back most of the time. Food is average & disappointing considering the hotel & grounds. Worse thing for me was the service. Way to over the top to make you happy to the point it was uncomfortable & having 3 young men knocking on your door early evening asking if all was well was overwhelming & I didn’t feel I could relax while there so I went to another hotel for a couple of days even though I had paid to stay there. The staff are trying there best & sure they are being told to be like that but it becomes intrusive. The last night I went out teatime. Come back at 9pm & they had come in. Put netting right round the bed so you couldn’t see anything from the bed & left Bill for mini bar on my pillow. Bill was only 20 euros. I was baffled why they didn’t wait till checkout & had 2 members of staff in room at 9pm taking netting down from bed. That’s very intrusive & unprofessionall.
