This place is a solid 3 star located on the Strand right in the heart of Townsville. Don't get me wrong, it is by no means a luxury property, but it gives excellent value for money. We felt safe and comfortable, the location gives easy walking access to all of the Strand, restaurants, bars, etc. Great place to stay if you are on a budget!

Great accomodation, room was a great layout, only thing was the TV didn’t work (didn’t need it anyway). Close walk to dining areas and Water Park. Good communication and pleasant staff.

Attractive historic property. Very clean large rooms with all you need. Staff very helpful, friendly and polite. Quiet neighbourhood, few minutes walk to The Strand or bus to take you to ferry terminal. Easy 10 min walk to supermarket, cafes etc in one direction. Or 20 min in other for same. Most other hotels along Strand appear to have bars and restaurants. For me this just creates more noise and people so if you prefer a more calm stay Yongala would be better choice.

Nice big room and bathroom. Old building was lovely and in a great position near the beach. Check in was a breeze and we were made to feel welcome. The only negative was there was only soap supplied and no shampoo/ conditioner or tissues in the room. Not sure if they should have been. If they were just missing I'm sure they would have been given to us if we had asked. There was hand pump wash in the bathroom which was nice instead of having to use a bar of soap.

Great location, but property needs updating and reviewing of customer service. No shampoo / conditioner in the room. Being told if the second bed in the room is disturbed it will incur a $30 fee. Mould in ceiling has been painted over - cheap fix and it is coming back. The reception area needs updating. Receptionist is friendly.

Great for a family Townsville visit
More suited to families. It’s a lovely Lodge brilliantly located in the heart of Townsvilles North Ward/ Strand area. The lady at the reception was absolutely lovely. I did have to lug my belongings further than I would have liked but the room was large accommodating and pet friendly. And very well priced. Very good for an extended stay not so good for a one-nighter

The Yongala is a good value motel, conveniently located close to the Strand, shopping and dining opportunities. The room was well fitted out and it was quiet - so the comfortable beds allowed a good nights sleep. The only petty fault I could find was that the TV channel changer was not that easy to operate. All things considered, I'd give the Yongala a rating of at least 4 out of 5.

Clean rooms, quiet location, comfy bed, close to restaurants and the ocean. Furniture in the room a bit outdated. Can hear some noise from the neighbouring room. Could do with a small shelf or rack in the shower, shelf or cupboard for toiletries in the bathroom area, and replacement of the old rusty toilet brush.

This is an older style motel but my room was still comfortable and in good condition. The thing that made my stay exceptional though was the lovely Nicole on the front desk who was amazingly friendly, helpful and efficient. She’s a treasure and I hope the owners of the motel know that!
