Smoke alarm had been removed. Tried to charge more than the booked amount. Cigarette butts and rubbish lying around. We will try other accommodation in Toolebuc next time.

Arrived, no-one in reception. Found a phone number online which was answered by someone who told us the room number and gave us the code for the key box on the wall. The key inside did not open the room door. The whole place was rundown and dirty and appeared to be a camp for itinerant Asian workers. Told the voice on the phone that we weren’t staying and left, went to the Tooleybuc Motel instead. AVOID THIS PLACE.

Where can I start? Having travelled to the property to be rudely turned back because my booking was not acknowledged. The attendant was more interested in partying with his friends. ‘Can you read’ pointing to the sign of no vacancy… why do I have a booking confirmation? Thoughts are that the attendant had let his friends take the room so that they could party through the night. I’m glad that I decided to take my business elsewhere. Do not recommend this property, so much so I think this property should have their licence taken off of them. Manager was not on site, and would not answer phone to discuss. Property looked run down, having read other reviews now, I am glad I didn’t see the inside of the rooms. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. Sleeping on the kerb would be cleaner and safer.

Unfortunately this property is nothing like what is seen on Wotif. Check in is difficult with no staff speaking English on arrival, a man calls someone offsite to speak to you. On arrival to my room - the aircon was falling off the wall, there was mould and rust throughout the shower accompanied by cockroaches. The tv had no remote and when it was able to be turned on, it did not work. Going to hang clothes in the cupboard, we found men’s clothes hanging in there - looking like someone had moved out for us to stay. The property was filthy and the outside grounds were littered cigarette butts. Overall we were incredibly upset with our stay and felt it was more 1 star Standard and should not be available for bookings.

It was unkempt, cockroaches everwhere! dodgy linen, bathroom dirty. Had already paid and rest of Tooleybuc booked full, otherwise i would not have stayed. No staff in reception, people walked passed desk, ignored me. Noone spoke english. Rest of motel iccupied by Vietnamese speaking people who partied into the night. No tv signal, no working wifi. AVOID this motel. Unsanitary and CERTAINLY not worth $100 for the night.

Cockroach problem
I have stayed in Tooleybuc many times over the past 4 years but never at this motel. The biggest problem was that it was infested with cockroaches. I arrived around 6.30pm and was greeted with a can of insecticide in the room. Cockroaches were crawling on the walls and in the toaster, in the bathroom. I sprayed thoroughly and went to the pub for a couple of beers. When I got back there were even more. Tried to have a conversation with the manager but didn't get far event though they were polite. I pushed my single bed into the middle of the room - the linen was clean - but the odd cockroach was on the bed. There was a sign out the front saying Inspectioins welcome - I wish I had done this before paying. I could only get 50% back if I cancelled. Tooleybuc is such a nice place, but this place was a nightmare.

Property didn’t live up to expectations. Was not serviced daily and wasn’t clean enough. Had to chase up towels and as the people running it didn’t speak English (2 of them) 1 did hard to communicate. We finally got towels. Also was not neat outside lots of rubbish. Would not stay there again.

Filthy place
The place was filthy, dishes were dirty, fire alarms were broken and the place was bedbugs infested. Also, the staff speaks no English at all, which made really difficult to check in. We had to wait for a long time until the manager to pick up her phone to check us in. Never again.

Extremely poor customer service. Checked in at5pm no one was in reception had to go and find a cleaning lady who rang a phone and then handed over to me to check in. Inspected the room before paying and the beds were not made. Put us in another room. A person came to take our payment and was only dressed in shorts. Bear chested. No one on site spoke English well and was difficult to understand. Property extremely run down.

The room was clean and comfortable with almost everything needed - but no microwave and no knife. A/C was good even on days when the temperature hit 41. Fridge worked too well as it froze everything on the top shelf. But in 4 days the room was never cleaned and I never found anyone at reception who could communicate in English. When I asked for the wifi password the Chinese speaking guy dialled a number and handed me his phone where I spoke to a woman who said she'd send it to me. I didn't get it. I'm guessing it's new management who haven't got their act together yet.

Man at the reception just wearing the shorts, with no top. Terrible. First impression was just bad Can’t understand or speak English Overall worst ever experience till date A Chinese lady sitting remotely, operating and instructing this Chinese guy over the phone, and he can’t speak English properly, disappointing. No microwave in the room and common kitchen area is disappointing too. If you are after comfortable stay, this shouldn’t be your choice unless owner upgrade the motel to the right level with minimum facility and hire the English speaking staff

Cockroaches. Bed bugs. Sticky greasy benches and floors, grimy mirrors, broken curtains, extra mattress leaning on a wall. Old loud airconditioner that you cannot leave on if you want to sleep. No English speaking people to ask questions. Photos on this site are old and outdated and do not represent the current state of the property. Premium bedding is a joke as it's threadbare and faded.

We cannot rate most details of the property because we didn't get past Reception. We arrived at 9:45pm and so before the publicised 10pm cut-off for late check-in. (Also, at 9:04pm I had sent Message via Wotif "We expect to arrive just before 10pm".) On arrival we couldn't raise anyone by the bell, or the phone number on the door; but did manage to find someone by knocking on the door of a specified room. Then a person appeared at reception claiming to not know English and handed me a phone to talk to "boss". This was a woman who later gave her name as Mona, who told us there were no rooms available. At first Mona said we hadn't cancelled in time and had arrived too late, but I pointed out the time and that it was before 10pm. Then Mona said there was no confirmation. I had the Wotif confirmation email in front of me, but the person at reception indicated they couldn't read, and Mona repeatedly said there was no confirmation. After repeated questioning from me, Mona said she had no booking request in my name. We had no option but to depart. Half an hour later I contacted the Wotif Virtual Agent, and after 4 minutes of frustrating "dialogue" I was transferred to a human agent. I was eventually reassured I would not be charged; and I was told "This maybe the instance sometimes the hotel sell the room on a higher rate than on the first rate that they have". I gather that the property changed ownership a few months ago. I suggest that Wotif regularly check contacts.

While the motel is dated, you can never judge by first glance. The main thing I care about in a motel is cleanliness and a comfortable bed and this motel had both. Staff were friendly and room was extremely clean and comfortable. All for a budget price.

I can not believe you have this place on your site,this motel should not be trading as it's absolutely filthy & we did not feel safe. We tried booking elsewhere with no luck. I will not be using Expedia again. Seems a lot of permanent residents with no regard for anything or anyone. DO NOT BOOK this motel.

A truly lovely receptionist… clean room and interesting neighbourhood. Near a township but I felt safe and other local tenants were nice and friendly. Great eat out and takeaway food at two nearby locations. I would stay here again … the shower had awesome pressure

When we arrived at 3.30 pm the room was not ready told to go away and come back in 2hrs we did, came back at 4.30 the room still was not ready got into our room at 5.30 pm, when we got in the room was clean and serviceable bathroom door would only open halfway and trying to pay was a joke as they could not speak English and had to ring their boss 3hrs away it took time.

When we returned to our room on day 2 we found the door lock jammed with an incorrectly inserted key. We tried and tried (and other residents also tried) to remove the key without success. There were no staff on the premises to help. Fortunately a couple of carpenters also staying that night were able to remove the handle from the door and allow us to enter our room. When one staff member did return several hours later he was totally uninterested in our problem so we were left with a door without a lock for our last night. It should also be noted that none of the staff we saw were able to speak English!

The rooms were clean and large. The rates were quite reasonable. Easy walking distance from hotel and meals. The air conditioner was old and noisy. Check in left a lot to be desired. Manager wasn't there and those "in charge" couldn't speak English. They were pleasant but didn't have a clue. They had to contact manager and phone passed to me. Not great service.
