This was not my preferred hotel, but it was in the middle of golden week and choice was slim.
Calling this a 4 star hotel is pushing the concept - the lobby and facilities are perfectly decent (great perhaps if you’re having a wedding there), but the room was the same as any 2-3 Star Japanese business hotel - small, short bed, with a pokey bath/shower combo bathroom.
The major issue however - and the one that makes this hotel impossible to recommend to anyone unless they’re hard of hearing - was the noise from outside the hotel.
There is a major trunk road running alongside one side of the hotel, which might have been manageable if the windows werent so thin that they didn’t block any of the noise. I’ve encountered this before in old Japanese hotels - they’re single glazed for some bizarre reason, but I’ve never stayed at one so close to a major traffic artery.
So anyway, the road noise didn’t stop ... at all. 3am, 4am, it was like being in the middle of an intersection. Eventually I dug some ear plugs out of my suitcase, and as that still didn’t entirely help, put a pillow over my head. Amazingly I could still hear traffic going past after that, but shoving the air conditioner on full blocked the remaining intrusion.
I stayed at the hotel for two nights - if it had been any more then I’d have either insisted on another room if there were any, or I’d have left.
