I cannot say enough about the most wonderful staff at this hotel. They were so friendly and accomodating. The meals were superb, and the view from the dining room unmatched. It is to be expected that it is an older building and some things are a little different, make sure if you have mobility issues to ask questions before you go. I did see wheelchair ramps. We truly enjoyed it and wish we had stayed another night or 2 to walk the grounds.

this was a true Castle property. On our 3 week visit to Scotland we stayed in 4 locations that say they are "castles", the others were nice but not castles. HIGHLY recommend this one location. GREAT stay and would stay again if in Scotland.

Exceptional accommodations, dining, and staff. Friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Exceptional value for a castle-stay overlooking the rugged hills and Loch. Will return, God willing.

We were impressed with all the staff at Stonefield Castle Hotel. We were checked in by Alex and he looked after us during our stay helping with a taxi and storing luggage while we where away for one night. A beautiful spot for a hotel we hope to return again some time in the future.

As I had visited the hotel before I knew it was a lovely spot on the Kintyre peninsula for a quiet few days. The hotel room was light and airy with a very well finished en-suite. The food offering is fine dining in the restaurant and a bar meal offering in the bar. The quality of the food is excellent especially if you like seafood, there is a reasonable choice for vegetarians like my partner. However we found the quality of service in the restaurant was not up to the standard of previous visits. The waiting staff were mostly young and appeared to be inexperienced which manifested itself in sloppy service. e.g. although they knew my partner was vegetarian they did not supply the vegetarian menu until prompted. The food on the first night was look warm due to excessive delays between courses. Although the service in the restaurant was patchy I can still recommend the hotel as a great location for a break in Argyll.

THERE WERE MILLIONS OF SMALL FLIES AROUND THE HOTEL. SOME PENETRATED TO THR ROOMS ASWELL. NOONE MENTIONED THIS GENERAL, SEASONAL, PROBLEM OF THE HOTEL. WHEN WE ASKED THEY SAID THEY ARE MEGGIES WELCOME TO SCOTLAND ????

Property has seen better days. Online pictures do not match current conditions. Hotel is tired and worn. Some staff had dirty clothes. Front desk staff were friendly, lady in restaurant was the saving grace for this hotel. She was very friendly, chatty and made up for the very poor and rude attitude of her male colleague. He is not well suited to customer service.

lovely location and nice hotel overlall.
parking is not lined, and other guests tend to be a little selfish and leave very wide gaps between cars. room was nice, a little small but clean and comfy. bathroom was lovely with a large bath and shower. windows are sash and in keeping with the castle but they a little awkward to open. There is no lift to the upper floors so please mention this when booking if mobility is an issue. the restaurant was the only letdown, food menu was very limited, and the portion sizes are small vs price. otherwise a nice hotel.

The castle sits on lovely grounds with walking trails and its own island. It is two miles from Tarbert, a convenient stop on the way to the ferry. The castle has comfortable sitting rooms, a bar and restaurant, and outdoor seating. Our room was quite large, with a living area as well as a bedroom and bath. We had water views from three directions. The staff was friendly. I would have liked a better map of the property for our walks. The room needed updating, for example, the carpet and parts of the bathroom seemed quite old. However, it was clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great location, views of loch fyne are outstanding. Staff are brilliant - very friendly and service excellent. However the rooms and bathrooms are tired and feel a bit grubby - windows had to be opened by the staff as they were too difficult to open myself. Restaurant food was bang average but prices were much higher than average - I am not sure what premium I would put on the view.

All the staff were very professional and went out there way to make our stay very memorable.The wooded area could do with some care and attention but the views from the restaurant over Loch Fyne are stunning. We recommend a stay at this Baronial style hotel which holds a four star rating and has been judged best ‘castle style hotel’for four years running. We enjoyed our two nights bed and breakfast very much and thank the staff for their care and attention.

This property is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The word gracious comes to mind. Architectural details, furnishings, art, the staff, the grounds -- this was one of the best places we stayed during our trip to Scotland. Highly recommend.
