In the heart of it all!
Great location! Quick walk to the transit and right in the middle of downtown! The room was fine, the street noise was an issue, as the best way to cool the room was to open the window (no AC). Very clean, great staff!

Great centrally located place. Not fancy but good value for money and very close to everything. The building is A little old and dilapidated but Has a lot of character and the extremely friendly staff made it a very enjoyable stay for me and my family. Would definitely stay there again.

Revamp?
Bit old and run down. Bathroom/toilet not specified as communal. No lift - difficult to negotiate steep narrow stairs with suitcases. Only lighting was a table lamp. TV only able to be watched from top bunk and then at an angle! Hotel on busy city intersection - very noisy. Extremely crowded bar to negotiate to find manager and 'book in' - no separate office. Great steaks and comfy bed.

Oh my, what a lovely experience for the night, rainy night in the middle of the city, very roomy room, open the windows for full exposure to the city or close them and turn the fan on for a closed room of comfort. Bathroom-toilet&showers very clean. So much charm, cheapest you’ll get for the best service and rooms. Didn’t even have breakfast which is included and still super happy with our stay. Will be back

The staff are lovely but if you stay invest in good earplugs! The street noise is terrible ALL night- there is a bus that goes by every 5 min right outside- and there is no AC so if it is hot you have a choice of a really noisy hot room with the window open or an opressively stuffy and only barely quieter room. I got maybe an hour of sleep for the night. The TV only has one channel that will tune in so hopefully you like Channel 7!

It was so dirty only a pig could stay there. I ended up walking out and losing my money. Had to pay for decent accommodation. Wot if was no help at all. Never again with wotif.

Perfect location in the heart of the city,i would class it as cheap and cheerful .it's above a pub after all .clean rooms ,shared bathroom and toilets ,free wifi free bfast bar,you get more than you pay for

If you need to be in town for a night or two and just want a clean & efficient stay, this hotel is PERFECT ! Not flash or fancy but definitely 100% workable. I'm a fan and would stay again for sure :)

i loved the fact it was heritage style, small - obviously being an older building the window glass is not double glazed so a little noisy - but nothing too bad. Very comfy beds and suited my work needs perfectly. Staff were lovely and informative.

Loved having a nightcap before bed... but lots of stairs after a long day... floors were creaky and walls thin, but we lived our stay anyway!!

not recommended for elderly people. No lift and too many stairs. Advertise this information so that people are aware of the stairs.

Short solo stay.
Short personal trip, busy in the day, coming back only to sleep. This hotel served my purpose fully! I arrived late and the kind and thoughtful owner rang to ask and then texted me instructions on how to get the key, where was breakfast and the room number. Clean bathrooms, breakfast room stocked - will never go hungry. Clean sheets, comfortable bed. Thin pillows but it was fine for me. Fresh towels daily! Little or no noise. Great location. Minutes walk to Wynyard Station. Lots of cafes around York Street and a 7-11 at the street corner. Great spot. Will stay again!

On the good side, we had a fab time for a week at the Wynyard. There were very few other guests for most of our time, so everything was clean and quiet. Staff were great, the kitchen was well stocked and the bathrooms were clean. The only bad part was for two nights the hotel filled up, and then of course all those people brought their noise and their mess in the bathrooms. The floorboards are super squeaky throughout the hotel, and the walls are thin, so with so many people there it was difficult to sleep continuously due to the noise

Friendly welcome, clean room - quite basic accommodation but happy with the value considering the price paid. You check in at the pub front bar (downstairs). We had a corner room; note that there is moderate noise from traffic and people out on the street. If you want a sleep-in, consider bringing an eye mask as curtains don't black out daylight fully. Friendly bar staff and atmosphere.
