The hotel room was pretty exaggerated in the description, including the fact that there would be robes in the room. Essentially, the room was just a big bed in an extremely small space so when opening a luggage bag it’s practically impossible to move around. It was mostly clean but definitely had previous guests’ hair in more than one place and there was some unknown debris on the pillows. On top of that, the room had a distinct odd smell that actually kept me from sleeping the first night. Perhaps it was from the window air conditioner (which seems inefficient in a location that generally tries to be green). It was nice that they give you a bottle of wine and a couple of snacks. And the front desk was generally friendly until the morning of our checkout when the man was clearly not polite. I wouldn’t stay again but if you’re looking for merely a place to crash that’s close to some shopping and easy to get to restaurants, I’d say give them a try.

Nice hotel. The area is on the edge of the Tenderloin — so a bit noisy and dicey in the neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again though.

The property was very close to Macy's and other Union Square shopping. Several restaurants in the area as well. The costs for non-street parking was $45-65 per night. Staff was very helpful. Stairs seemed very steep. Hotel appears to be a renovation of an older hotel. While it has been updated, the rooms and bathrooms are small.

The property around the area is not clean. I like that they gave us complimentary bag when we checked in. The manager on duty changed my room when I requested so I can be closer to my relatives that are also checked in. The hotel is small and outdated but I like that they try to keep it clean.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Abri. The lobby is warm and inviting and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our corner room was spacious and the huge walk-in shower was a delight. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the perfect blend of pillow soft on top and firm underneath. Conveniently located one block from the Powell Station and the Cable Car turn around on Powell, getting about via public transit is super easy. Union Square, with its abundance of shopping and dining options is a quick two block walk away. We highly recommend the Hotel Abri and will be staying there again.

Unsafe. The ceilings are cracking , all the rooms smell like cigarettes. I came with a pregnant friend and she was nauseous and felt bad because of how unsanitary this hotel was and the hotel management didn’t want to do a refund neither did Expedia. I spoke to Expedia they didn’t even offer me a discount to stay somewhere else. We had to pay out of pocket to stay at a different hotel. This was to say the least a horrible experience.

I had trouble locating property with my gps, not the Hotels fault but still very frustrating as navigating all the one way streets was maddening. Parking charge on the high end. Actual price higher than advertised as there was an additional $40 charge that I was told was a resort tax. This hotel is not a resort.

The hotel is in a scratchy area!
I would say you got what you paid. The hotel is located in an unsafe area. I don't recommend walking around the area at night. The hotel needs to clean the curtains badly. The curtains are disgusting. The customer service was ok, and the bed was comfortable.

Comfortable rooms, nice staff, walls and windows are a little thin so you get a lot of street noise and noise from other guests so bring a sound machine if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. Location is pretty good for that area, safe outside of the hotel and north but it's right at the edge of the sketchier areas. A nice 10-15 minute walk to the conference center, close to trolley and bus routes and walkable to Fisherman's Warf area

This is a very old building with some updates. There are a lot of homeless people right in front of the building. And a lot of facilities such as curtain, air conditioning are not working properly. There is a really bad smell in the room, which I cannot stay in at all. I ends up giving up the room and repurchased another hotel room for the night. Don't feel safe or comfort at all. Would not recommend.

Room only gets cleaned every 3 days (we stayed 4 days and it wasn’t serviced once). Bathrooms are in serious need of renovation in the rooms. Street noise was quite noisy and that was probably the smallest queen bed I’ve ever seen.

Good value for money and good location. Unfortunately staff were a bit miserable, no one seemed like they really wanted to be there. Lobby is beautiful but rooms cleanliness is a bit rough (fine but could be better) a bit of mould in bathrooms and a strange smell but it’s on par for a 3 star hotel. Had to call 3 times for additional pillows over around 3 hours and on the third call the staff seemed pissed off that we were even asking for pillows.

Our room window faced the street. The noise ALL night long was HORRIBLE. Gun shots, sirens, shouting, fights- while I understand the hotel has no influence on this noise, I do believe that the single pain, out dated windows didn’t help- at ALL. I also believe that we were given this room because we reserved through Expedia. No sleep for our entire stay- we won’t ever stay here again nor will I recommend it to anyone else.

The room and bed was comfortable. It’s an older hotel with updated bathroom. There are many dresser drawers to store clothes. The hotel does not food service. But we didn’t mind because there are several restaurants within two blocks of the hotel. The cable car and subway are one block away

Super convenient location, but service was not great. They don’t clean your room unless you request it (must request before 10am!), and even when we requested it properly, they still forgot to do it.

The location of this property in downtown San Fran was excellent in terms of proximity to Union Square, the cable car boarding spot, shopping and restaurants. However, it is also within a block of the Tenderloin district. The downtown core has changed a lot in the last 3 years and is not the vibrant “great shopping” place that it once was. Many stores have closed and every store had visible security. The hotel was mediocre. We had the Oasis suite. We could not control the air conditioning to make it colder. And during the night, it would change to heat mode. The sofa bed was mediocre. There was a big piece of furniture in front of the sofa. When the bed was out, you could not stand at the foot of the bed. It was awkward to close the bed every morning because you had to stand to the side, not square on. There were no outlets in the sitting area except behind the sofa bed. Luckily I packed an extension cord and a power bar for my CPAP machine and multiple electronic devices (watch, phone, kindle, earphones). There was no mirror in the sitting area either. We had to stand in the entrance or the bathroom for a mirror. But the outlet was only in the bathroom. With 3 women sharing a room, access to a mirror near an outlet was limited. The bathroom doors were very heavy sliders that did not move well. I wouldn’t stay here again.
