Port Douglas has two primary seasons: the green season and the dry season. The green season often begins in November with the first monsoon and lasts until about May. During the dry season the temperature is generally between 17 and 26 degrees Celsius, and in the green season the temperature can rise to about 33 degrees Celsius. While the green season brings warm water conditions, it also marks the season when sea wasps, called “stingers,” make an appearance in the ocean near the coast. Swimming should only take place within marked enclosures during this time.
