Clean - needs a refresh. Expensive for what it is.

I booked this hotel for my wife as a little birthday getaway, having sent an email to the hotel to say we were there specifically for the spa. I enquired about packages for her. We checked into the hotel, seemingly ok. Got to the room and the key didn’t work. Back to reception, I find out they’ve given us the key to a different room. That’s fine, mistakes happen. Once we finally entered the room, it was definitely not as pictured. I can only assume the pictures on the site are shot in a way which makes the room look more modern, cleaner and larger than it actually is. After much discussion, my wife and I decided to simply make do with what we had been given. I went into the shower to freshen up. The seemingly newly appointed shower, was loose on the wall, to the point we were worried that if we weren’t careful with the tap, it would break off.

    4/5 Good

Beautiful setting, lovely traditional hotel good leisure facilities. Very poor service from waiting staff at breakfast. Total chaos. Tables weren’t being cleared on time and had to wait 15/20 mins for a table on Sunday Morning. Eventually got our room number called for a table and had eaten our breakfast before we were offered tea and toast. Big improvement required here! At over £800 per head for 3 days at New Yr they will have to up their game. Have stayed twice before and this was the worst service ever. Coffee is served in the lounge after dinner and I’m also afraid to say it was Luke Warm in the jugs on Saturday night. The head waiter was doing his best and offered mints around to guests but the whole experience was under par. Nice hotel but pity about the service,

    1 disappointment

Checked out the swimming times AT THE POOL at 5.40 to be told it closes at 6. Great! Collected our swimming wear, arrive at the pool at 5.50 to find it closed. Not good, should not have happened. (Sun 3rd dec) Otherwise a great trip...in a jawdropping location.
