Hidden gem
What a little hidden gem. Port Mill B&B is a great location in the centre of Fremantle. We checked ourselves in with no issue - instructions provided were thorough and clear. Our room was very clean (spotless) and we had a king size bed. Continental breakfast was included...we had a great stay.

Charming B&B in Central Fremantle
Port Mill B&B is located in a charming European style townhouse development in an historic old flour mill in the centre of Fremantle with easy walking to all the points of interest. The continental breakfast left in your room daily was generous and most appreciated. We would stay there again if in Fremantle. Good free wifi.

The B&B is situated in a perfect place and is in a beautiful courtyard. However, never saw anyone/staff during our two day stay. The bedroom wasn’t the cleanest and the sheets had stains on them. Continental Breakfast was very minimal but ok. The people who were staying in the other room were very noisy. Doors banging, shouting at 11.30pm on the Saturday night. The whole experience was supposed to have been a relaxing weekend away. We were very disappointed and couldn’t wait to leave.

Price has doubled, but the service has halved.
My partner and I have stayed at this hotel many times and always had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunaly the hotel had been taken over by new owners and the price has nearly doubled but the service has halved. Good quality food has been swapped for cheap alternatives. On this stay last week it was too much to ask for butter with my toast I was given one sachet for breakfast with my two pieces of toast my wife and had two pieces aswell, when I asked for a bit more I was only given one more sachet. The previous owners were friendly and courteous and gave us breakfast vouchers for a lovely little boutique cafe next door. Now breakfast is toast or cereal and cheap biscuits. A really lovely spot to stay in the heart of Fremantle but the new changes are disappointing and we will not return, it’s cheaper to stay at the Espanade now and much better service.

Beautiful courtyard garden
Fantastic location, walking distance to many Fremantle attractions. The nearest all day parking is about 150 metres away and costs $11/day. The people in the unit above us had showers at odd times which woke us up each night but that would not happen with every stay.

Nice accomodation. Close to cafe strip.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was very clean and fresh. Had that old worldly feeling to make you think you are away on holidays. Great location, only 3 doors from the cafe strip, markets and hotels/pubs

Great central location
Pleasant stay, good air conditioning which was a relief as the weather was very hot, nice bar located next door, central Fremantle location near large park. Need to factor in parking cost unless using public transport. Very comfy bed. Recommend asking for room with balcony view of courtyard as we did not have one although perhaps this was why it was so quiet.

Great location
Had a great 4 night stay. All staff where friendly and helpful. Room was clean and tidy, enjoyed the fresh fruit that was provided daily. Breakfast was at a café across the road, a big thumbs up food and coffee great. It's only minutes to the main street, markets, fisherman's wharf. Recommend the chocolate shop at the entrance for the best hot chocolate and cookies.

Quaint B & B that provides many in-room extras
Quaint B & B that provides many little extras in your room. Ask for a ground floor room if you have limited mobility as narrow stairs and no lifts make this property a challenge otherwise.
Response from General Manager on 17 Aug 2016
Hi Chris, Thank you very much for your review of Port Mill B & B, we really appreciate it. Just to clarify, for other guests that may read this and be confused - we have no ground floor rooms at all. All four of our rooms are up either one flight or two flights of stairs, as you would have seen for yourself when you stayed ? All that we have on the ground floor is the reception area and the staff quarters and nothing else. We make mention of this and stress in detail that we are stair access only ( since we are after all, a B & B - essentially a converted residential Townhouse - and definately do not have the capacity to install a lift ) in the confirmation email sent to every guest when they book. When a booking is made we let our guests know which floor their room is on and how many flights of stairs it is to access.. that way each guest can decide in plenty of time before their arrival date if Port Mill B & B is suitable accommodation for them. I hope the stairs didnt challenge you too much and you return again one day in the future :-) - Kelly

Lovely room with very nice straight touches
The room was lovely and had great coffee making and extras like fruit and biscuits. Only issue was that I had early risers upstairs and it was a bit noisy but not the hotels fault! I enjoyed my stay.

B&b to me means just that. Not bed and a voucher. We had to walk to a cafe in the rain and wind with voucher in hand for breakfast. Voucher covered food and hot drinks were extra. Not impressed for $239 for the night
Response from Kelly on 19 May 2016
Hello J & B We could offer toast, cereal and a pasty in your room, but when we have such a fantastic quirky 'freo' cafe literally across the street where you can get a chef cooked meal why wouldn't we take advantage of that ? We give each couple $40 to cover breakfast at Two Ruben's Cafe..their breakfast menu has 21 items on it that you can choose from BEFORE 11.30 am and prices start at $4.50 and go up to $21 ...there are 10 menu items available AFTER 11.30am and their prices range from $ 8 to $17 ...we feel $40 is a fair deal for breakfast..for example, if you were to get eggs your way on toast for $12 and add either bacon or mushrooms or chorizo or avocado for $3.00, a coffee for $4.00 ..your bill for breakfast would be $19...far more filling, hot and substantial than a continental breakfast of toast, cereal and a pastry in your room, which by the way IS the definition of Bed and Breakfast !...Yes, The Full Breakfast ( the lot ) is $21..but we don't have to provide that in house to be a 'Bed and Breakfast'...and like I said, there are 21 menu items to choose from, priced from $4.50 to $21..so there really is an abundance of food to choose for breakfast...never mind the 10 other menu items available after 11.30am, which you are more then welcome to use your vouchers for a lunch if you prefer. In room, we provide Robert Timms Coffee sachets which are a superior brand of coffee and we have a large selection of different teas to enjoy before you head on over to a great little cafe in the heart of Fremantle...because, isn't that what Fremantle is about ? Having GREAT food in a quirky, fun and atmospheric 'Freo' cafe ! Our confirmation email does specifically say that we do give a voucher for breakfast at Two Rubens Cafe, so you were able to make an informed decision about your stay and you could have cancelled your booking if you were unhappy.

Loved it
Really comfortable and charming. So full of character. Great position. Loved Fremantle too. Beautiful architecture and lovely courtyard. Super comfy bed, nice room with balcony. Helpful welcoming staff and lovely touches e.g fruit for the room, sun lotion in the foyer. Excellent breakfast in 'Two Rubens' across the road. Wish I could have stayed longer. The best place we stayed on our 3 week trip in WA.

Accomidation was in a great location.
Breakfast vouchers were great at the cafe across the road. Only inconvenience is no parking on site, so a little walk but not easy with your luggage, also becomes costly.

What else can I say? The complementary breakfast at Rubio's Cafe across the road was excellent. The thick limestone walls had great character and the practical benefit of providing good sound insulation to the benefit of our fellow guests and neighbours.

Perfectly located
This quaint Bed and Breakfast is in the heart of Fremantle, less than five minutes walk to the restaurant strip and the markets. Breakfast is provided by The Two Reubens cafe which is across the road and while their choice of breakfast dishes is relatively limited, the food is excellent and the service quick and efficient. Only downside is that they do not open for breakfast until 7.30 on weekdays which can be inconveniently late if one is intending to catch a morning plane in Perth or attend an early opening conference at the Notre Dame University. We rarely saw the staff at the Bed and Breakfast which was just perfect as it provided us with our privacy. Our room overlooked the adorable courtyard - so reminiscent of Europe. Overall a beautiful and restful Bed and Breakfast.

The rooms were tired and the bathroom was old and the shower had peeling paint and the water was all over the place except downwards! The reception was non existent as they were at another property and the 'breakfast' was at another premises which opened too late. Overall really disappointing.

French style old world hotel
We booked this quaint little French style B&B room from previous reviews, It did not disappoint us. It's location to the city center is great, the room itself was clean and tidy, being a French style B&B meant that if you have a tight stair case to negotiate, so if you have hip or knee problems then I suggest you get a ground floor, the reception is not 24hr however they accommodated our later arrival with ease, We will be back! Thanks Port Mill
