A lovely place to stay in a lovely part of Yorkshire. the food here is excellent, both the evening meals and the breakfasts. Good value for money. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Definitely recommend if visiting this part of the world.
Excellent stay. Staff are lovely, food was superb. The only little thing I would mention is that the room was very cold even though the heating was on but this was an unusually cold spell and therefore the heating may have just struggled a little.
The pub itself was cosy. The food was excellent. Breakfast - was tasty and staff attentive however would prefer to choose on the day rather than day before. Room was quaint but absolutely freezing. Unbearably freezing. We may as well had gone camping. Mentioned on check out however staff already seemed aware and said heating was on a timer. Ensure you check the temperature of the room and request a heater if it’s cold. Ours got colder and colder through the night. Very uncomfortable and disappointing for a rare childfree break.
Excellent service and food really good. But our room was cold.

End of Nov.
Staff lovely. Breakfast and evening meals excellent. Room big and nicely set out. Bed comfy. Overall look of Foresters very pleasant. Only negative was our room very cold (too few radiators and not big enough, had to fold curtains onto window sills to expose radiators and still too cold) also bathroom
( suggest a blind at window). Would love to return if room (no. 4) was warm.
My son and I had a couple of nights here when visiting my elderly father who lives nearby. The service in the bar and restaurant was excellent and we were made to feel welcome. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is very good. I prefer vegetarian food and I found plenty of interesting choices. The surrounding area is excellent for its views and scenery.
The property, staff, in this rural pub/hotel was outstanding. I would highly recommend it. Food and pub were excellent. It was a most pleasant stay. Kilburn was historic, and the near by town (6 miles away) Thirsk was also a neat pleasant village with shopping and the town is where a TV show is produced, and it is a short train ride to York.

Lovely pub, room not great
We stayed in the accessible room with courtyard view. Room was clean with comfy bed and modern decor. The room was dark with a small window overlooking the beer garden, which wasn’t ideal. Window propped open with a piece of wood. The room is next to the kitchen so there is a loud fan during the day, it is turned off at night. The room felt out of place and far from cosy. Couldn’t get wifi in the room during our stay, also had to re tune the tv. We asked if it was possible to move rooms but it wasn’t possible as fully booked. The pub is lovely and breakfast good. Would go back but would not stay in the same room.
It’s not often you award a hotel 10/10.
It’s as good as you’re ever going to get. The two telephone calls prior to my arrival, the welcome upon arrival and the lovely food was spot on.
Comfortable in a really quiet and pleasant village with car parking right in the square outside the pub door.
You pre-order your breakfast the night before from an extensive menu.
Fantastic B&B pub. We booked the day of our stay as a last minute treat. We will definitely be coming back again. Staff are wonderful and inviting, breakfast is fantastic, rooms are lovely and well maintained. We took our two year old daughter and she loved it. She was made really welcome and catered for. We were in the pub with her having dinner until 10pm and no one made us feel unwelcome with her.
Thank you so much for our stay!
The Forresters Arms is a very charming place, quiet and well maintained. The facilities are good and the staff friendly. It is ideally located to go hiking in the National Park. We will definitely come back here when we travel next in the area!
Lovely little hotel set in a beautiful village. Duncan was amazing and very helpful and always on hand.
Lovely hotel/country pub would highly recommend this hotel
This is a lovely pub with fantastic rooms. It is in a stunning location and the owners and all staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us during our stay. The bedroom was very comfortable, cosy decor and immaculately clean and with lots of little touches to make your stay perfect. The breakfast is fantastic - lots of options but I would recommend the full Yorkshire (although you may struggle to finish as they do not skimp on portions !!!) A Fabulous stay.
As soon as we pulled up out side the look of the Forresters Arms was welcoming and the when we went in side to check in again the staff were very welcoming and the paperwork was simple and smooth couldn't ask for more.
The whole of the Forresters Arms was clean, the food was well presented on the plant and the staff who served were also well presented, will be looking to use again when in the area without a second thought.
We had a lovely stay in this traditional pub about 40 mins drive from central York. Drinks, dinner and breakfast were all excellent. Highly recommended!
Mix up over deposit taken was told I owed full amount not half even though I had statement stating taken they just hadn’t claimed it not my fault .. that was at check in after 7 hour drive not what I want checking in .. room very dusty and shower black mould and ledge in bathroom thick dust . Meals ordered in restaurant didn’t come as discribed both main and desert. Breakfast pre ordered night before we asked for 8 as had busy day and needed to get off however still took until 8.30 to be served . Why bother pre order if can’t get it ready for time booked . Supposed to be eco friendly by not giving out toiltrees in room but put plastic water and plastic milk pots in room so surly you would use glass bottles or carafe . Parking was a nightmare as car park near pub full so had to find parking space on road eventually Managed to move car to car park after customers left. All in all I wouldn’t go back too many negatives not friendly Yorkshire pub I was expecting and hoping for another hotel that keeps calling us guys we find this offensive being pensioners
Spent one night to break up a longer journey and glad we did. Really traditional establishment and we had a lovely dinner then breakfast in the morning. Nice relaxing vibe, friendly and helpful staff too. Rooms were compact but very clean and comfy beds! Good sized shower/toilet facilities.Would definitely stay again if in the area.
A lovely village pub with extremely helpful staff and lovely service. We enjoyed a really good dinner which was far above the standard of average pub grub. It was also good to see the extensive range of wines by the glass.
