As told by Ibis Budget Newcastle, twenty rooms were overbooked. They sold us to Alloggio Thornton, a remote area in the west far away from New Castle. It was promised that receptionist was ready for us to check in. But we found there was no receptionist, room was dirty. We had to wipe the dirty on the table and that in bathroom. No lift in the building, we had to carry our heavy luggage's upstairs. We couldn't find restaurant in the dark when arrived around 8pm. We felt we were dumped in the middle of nowhere. We will never choose Ibis Budget as our hotel in future. This is the worst hotel experience.

What turned me off for second time, the bookings were mucked up at reception. Whoever does their pre-bookings if you can't provide then please don't just send back a book for double room when asked for disabilityon ground floor elderly male on 2 sticks. The room offered was upstairs, no on first landing, no, "if you aren't able then tell me where as in a hurry" - family room with upgraded costs, no we booked for ,, and not paying extra... oh well family at no extra. This mucking around allowed me 5 mins to find the room, get changed and down to a meeting for 1.30. This was 1.10 arrival. The toilet roll is great for a man standing at the loo, for kids (family room) and women it is a reach directly above - not safe. Shower head tied with string. AC remote back off with note that it goes no lower than 21 - we used a walking stick to turn it on and off as remote not working. Otherwise bed good, tea facilities great, bar fridge handy, TV good. Need to be aware that bed is against the wall so second person has to crawl down and under the bunk ladder or climb over other on the edge.

Shower/Toilet & sink vanity is not ideal nor convenient. $10 breakfast with extremely limited options. Uncomfortable bedding. Many electrical maintenance have not been repaired.

The staff were very friendly and professional. I had to ask to be moved to the car park side as it was extremely noisy on the road side. Although the window is double glazed, a lot of the sound was coming through the surrounds. The bathroom is a joke-you are having a shower and the area in front of the toilet gets soaked, no screen or curtain. You have to hang your clothes and towel above the toilet bowl, very heigenic. How the workers put up with the deserved complaints l don't know.

Booked a room for 1 night on Expedia, the fee was $99 & I was to pay on arrival. Arrived at around 1730hrs that afternoon & paid $100.39 by card, the receptionist said there was a merchant fee. No towels in the room & no rubbish bin. The receptionist handed me 2 towels & said she would find a bin & bring it up to me. She never did. Departed 0700hrs the next morning & handed my key to the receptionist on the way out. Checked my bank statements the next day, to find I'd been charged another $99. Have been calling their office phone repeatedly for the last 3 days but cannot make contact. Managed to get through to a lady yesterday afternoon, who said she'd look into it & call me back, but never did. Have left voicemail messages & sent emails, but no reply. The customer service at Ibis Budget Newcastle (Wallsend) is atrocious, I do not recommend this property at all.

I am ok with budget accommodation, and budget facilitates, however even with budget accommodation there is still a level of cleanliness experienced. Our sheets had shoe footprints on it, there was hair and sand through both beds, there was obvious filth on the wall beside the bed where I assume a child had picked their nose and had no tissue. This was also the case for underneath the bunk that laid over the queen bed, there was filth wiped under there for us to look up at when laying in bed. The queen bed had springs coming up out of the bed, which meant I couldn’t lay on the bed, without having the doona on the bed, therefore I had no blanket and used towels as a blanket. It was after 10pm before we got into bed, and by that time reception was unattended to be able to get assistance. The shower area still has hair on the floor, and the vent in the bathroom would have had difficulty working as it was absolutely caked in thick dust. I was extremely disgusted and disappointed in the cleanliness of the motel. I believe the quality of the facilities and fittings were appropriate for price paid, it was just that the room and linen was so dirty that was upsetting. This is my 4th stay at this motel, and my room has never been this dirty.

Staff were friendly, however I was in a room closest to reception and it was extremely noisy with guests coming and going until really late. Each time the door would "clunk" with closing. The room was very basic with not even a teaspoon, let alone hairdryer or microwave. Shower/toilet was time and resembled one you would find in a caravan. The basin was separate and in the room. Room not very clean and fridge contained opened milk and drinks from the previous guest. No fresh milk pack provided. The bed appeared clean and was comfortable.

Clearly no attention to detail when cleaning rooms, bathroom smelt HORRIBLE, mold and ants on most surfaces. Found ants in bed as soon as we arrived. Very gross and unpleasant

Very fast and friendly check in. The usual IBIS Budget (Formulae 1) hotel format, ensuite gets all wet but otherwise has everything you need for an overnight stay

Absolutely disgusting. The port a loo bathroom. Covered with somebody's before us pubic hairs. The shower dribbled something out and was expected to wash in that. We booked a queen size bed and got 3 singles. One being a bunk so everytime someone sat up they hit there head. 3 pillows which were that small we had to put them together but ended up going to buy some, least they would be hygienic. Disgusting will not be back and will not recommend Fridge had the last persons items still in it.

It's a budget hotel, so it's important to mitigate your expectations accordingly. The bed was comfortable and everything was relatively clean, so that was a plus. Points docked for the AC not working, which in the midst of a heatwave was a bit of a problem. Also, as a bit of constructive criticism, the sink is in a different location in the room from the shower/toilet. Whilst I get that you can't alter the configuration of the room, it would be nice to have soap at the sink so that I don't have to run back and forth from the shower to the sink whenever I want to wash my hands. Other than that, it's a fine stay for the price you pay, so manage your expectations and you'll be fine.

The manager was lovely. The outside was quite messy with lots of rubbish in the car park. However, I was upgraded from 2 single beds to a queen which was appreciated.
