Totally adequate!
The furnishings are VERY simple: a bed, dresser, tv tray and chair. No fixture on the overhead light. No glass or cup provided, so I used the "vase" that held the artificial flowers. The super of the bldg, who manages the rooms, was very nice and helpful. There was another person staying in the B&B, but I never even heard him over a two-day stay. I felt entirely safe, and the tenants I spoke with were either helpful or neutral. Location, for me was great. Plenty of heat for a cold January!

My overall experience on this hotel was poor. The room was not clean. The location was in a dangerous neighborhood. On the other hand the hotel was really close to a subway station.

There is no check-in at all - the guest is required to call a number provided on the website to then meet a staff member on site to be let in. When I called the person answering the phone only said "hello" and not even the name of the guest house. I then received another phone number - this one supposedly the "general manager" which I was supposed to call to let them know when I would arrive to be let in. This mailbox was full. I then called the first number again and was told they would call the manager. At this point in time it was 11pm and I was standing in front of the building waiting for somebody to show up to let me in. After two more phone calls, speaking with a couple of residents sitting outside, and another half hour of waiting somebody finally showed up, only to then take me to another building, where they apparently had air conditioning. The room I was given was literally the size of a closet. The mattress was covered with a thick plastic sheet, and the fitted sheet on top kept slipping off due to the plastic cover. Although I had specifically booked a room with a private bathroom I was still placed in an apartment with a shared bathroom. Luckily I had to cut my stay short anyways - otherwise I would have looked for another place to stay.

安かろう悪かろう、の見本のような宿。一泊約6000円という破格値を思えば大体のことは見過ごせるが、宿としては欠点が目立ちます。チェックイン時刻になってもスタッフが来ない、部屋は冷暖房がなく変な匂いがする、ゴキブリ出る、お湯の出が悪い、周辺地区の治安が悪い……となかなかハードで気が休まりません。しかしとにかく安いのはありがたい。マンハッタンへも徒歩3分の駅から一本とアクセスは悪くありません。ちょっと冒険してみたい人には楽しめるかも。
