4/5 Good

Just made it before Lockdown 5
We had booked Bastille Day dinner at Le Bouchon and, rather than do the drive home along very dark and winding roads, decided to stay overnight at Balnarring. With a 2-night minimum stay required, we booked dinner the following night at Fontalina. When we arrived at the cottage, the property manager was just about to leave after unsuccessfully trying to fix the lock box for the key. She handed over the key and we entered to find that the cottage was freezing (13 degrees according to the central control of the heating system). Being column heaters, they took a long time to warm up the place and, even with the support of the aircon unit, the temperature had only reached 16 degrees when we left for dinner 3 hours later. Pity that the property manager or the cleaners hadn't thought to turn the heating on before we arrived. As a relatively new build, the property is an odd design. The living room/kitchen has seating for 4 (or 6 at a squeeze if 2 are littlies) and a dining table for 6. The kitchen corner has an oven, a microwave, sink etc with a small butler's pantry containing a cooktop at one end and a fridge at the other. Ample crockery, glassware and cookware is provided. However, unlike every other property we've ever stayed at, tea and coffee are not provided (as subsequently confirmed when we called in at the nearby property manager's office later - around the corner from the supermarket we had to visit). Instead, what is provided is an array of other cooking-related items presumably left behind by previous tenants, every one of which is well past its use-by date (some as far back as 2018 and 2019). The main bedroom has a large bed and a small wardrobe. The second bedroom has a large bed, a double bunk and no space for clothes. The one bathroom has a very large shower and a small vanity area with sink and with a poorly-lit and very small low mirror. The laundry is very large with a door leading to paddocks. A front porch area contains an outdoor table and chairs but it faces a small paddock and fairly noisy road. Surprisingly, there is no sitting area at the rear of the cottage where there is a great view of paddocks with sheep and alpacas. If there is wi-fi, there was no reference to it in the manual of instructions provided for tenants. The one TV in the cottage offers just the basic free-to-air stations. With the exception of accumulations of bird droppings all around the front door and on every window ledge, the cottage was very clean.

3/5 Okay

Not worth
When we checked in the bed was not set up then the lady came to set it up during our dinner after I informed them And just unlocked the the laundry cupboard & went to us to take the towels instead of setting & keeping them per each bed or kept on a place to us to take as usual welcome set up and no complimentary tea or coffee or toiletries although they have a coffee machine etc main reason we booked this place was as it described & showed there will be lamas next to the property not a single one only a goat was roaming around I never expected it to be that way after all they have heaps of rules & regulation list that we need to adhere but welcoming is not acceptable hope they don’t do this to all their properties :( very disappointed
