Hotel was very nice. We had a great corner room with large opening windows so felt as though we were outside. Had view of mountains and of the ocean. It was also very large by any standard. It is not ocean front, but that is not so important as there is no beach in Funchal and our room had an ocean view. Only slightly negative observation was lack of things one usually sees in hotels e.g. no water bottles, no lotion..But that slight defect was overwhelmed by the quality of the room.

All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Only faults were the beds were hard (got a topper fitted) and the dining room is very congested at times. Overall a great stay at lovely hotel.

Everything about this hotel screamed comfort, a very enjoyable stay which was great value.the indoor pool was a particular highlight, along with the sauna. Breakfast buffet was vast.

Wonderful Funchal base for exploring
The hotel had a delightful breakfast, room, pool, spa, location. We were able to walk into town along a single flat road, There is also free parking directly outside the hotel. Slightly hard bed, but this can be forgiven.

Enotel Magnolia in Funchal does it right!
Great hotel with very friendly staff. I made request ahead of time and they were able to accommodate me. Thanks. Also I got early check in as the room was ready. Beautiful grounds with outdoor pool large patio and big heated pool/hot tub. Top floor terrace with 360 views of the surrounding area. Really one does not want to leave. One issue is the noise from the street level especially if there is a loud motorcycle passing. Overall minor issue. I would also appreciate maybe coffee tea making machine in the lobby as there is no kettle in the room. I like to drink hot water and going to the bar each time is not convenient. The room has a safe mini fridge that actually works and personalized message on tv upon your arrival. I thought it was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend that hotel. Also worth mentioning the airport bus stop is just on the other side of the street. 5 euros per person will take you to the airport. Easy and convenient. Bus stop #12 of the aeroport transport line.

Great location for the city yet out of it enough that is was slightly more chilled. Waking up to the sun rise over the sea every morning was lovely. Staff were all incredibly polite and helpful.

The walk into Funchal is 20min, slightly downhill and tiring when walking back uphill. Public transport is out side the hotel and also just near Reid's hotel.

Very bad air conditioning systems and hot in room
Hotel was nice and clean with bigger room then usually have other hotels. But hotel rooms have very bad air conditioning systems, in room is very hot and there is no option to change A/C temperature at all. And we have very bad experience with one waiter which we reported to hotel reception, he was very stressful and rude and his behavior was like he is some boss of the hotel with his own rules about small details in breakfast and dining area.

We had an enjoyable seven night stay at this hotel, we got a room with a nice balcony on the fourth floor overlooking the ocean, the room was fine and had all you would expect, one thing missing was a kettle but that was rectified quickly after asking if we would be able to get one, breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of cereals, fruit, various breads and buns and a choice of cooked foods, coffee was good and plenty juice, the hotel is about a 20 minute walk into central Funchal or you can hop on a bus, the hotel will also sort out airport transfers for you for about 35 Euros in a taxi, there was lots of other things we never got around to using like a couple of swimming pools and a sauna

Excellent Stay
The location for us was ideal between Funchal and Lido. Breakfast had loads of choices and the hotel had a lot of facilities to use if you wish. My only slight compliant would be the pillows wasn’t great on the bed and the air-con wasn’t as cool as i would like however these are minor.

Our second time staying here and can’t see us staying anywhere else in Funchal from now on. Really friendly and helpful staff, great facilities and location and lovely room: definitely recommend.

Fantastic late summer break
Lovely clean hotel with great facilities. Staff were extremely helpful. In a great situation for centre of town.
