Looked good online, but not close up
The site said that it was three star. It was really a one star. You could tell that the building was once really nice place to stay. But the owners have not kept up the building. Poor paint, cracking walls, and the floors badly need refinishing. The room had dated decor, and there was a strange sliding door to the bathroom, which did not totally cover the doorway. The entire room was poorly cleaned, with gum under one of the lamp shades, hairs in the bathroom and on the plate, and the plastic (yes, plastic!) mugs had lipstick residue from the last user. The receptionist was very helpful with check in, and some advise on what to go to in the town, but was not in the building at check in. The A/C did not work, and was not fixed in the time we were there. It has so much potential, and all of the pieces are there, but there needs to be a lot more detail in the cleaning, upgrading, and decor. The room did have a small fridge, which did make it easy to keep food. I would not stay here again until I thought that the problems were rectified.

Basic but clean
We have stayed here several times over the last 7 years and I would have to say it is not as good as it used to be. Staff are very friendly and check-in was quick. The room on the first floor was basic but had clean linen and a comfy bed. Breakfast was extremely basic and when we left we went for a decent coffee and pastry at a cafe bar round the corner. It is located on a side street outside of the city walls but quick and easy to walk into central Lucca.

Huge rooms, great value
This hotel was great, the room was huge and really nice. It didn't even feel like a hotel, more like a mini-house. It was walking distance from the city centre and was in a good neighbourhood. The breakfast in the morning was homemade and really good and in the cute courtyard. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Great Location
We arrived In Lucca using the train from Pisa. We walked from the station to the hotel along the Lucca walls which took about 15 mins which was lovely. The hotel is in a great location only taking 5 mins to walk into Lucca. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Bedding and towels changed daily. Breakfast was good your typical continental. We would use this hotel again as it made our stay enjoyable.

Good rooms but the owners don't really care.
There's no reception that is open. Hard to find. Had to call for them to open the door. When I got to the hotel early they informed me the room wasn't ready to come back at 2pm. When I came back at 2 the staff lady (who was the nice one) told me that actually I was in another hotel a few blocks away. I clearly reserved the leoni hotel and had the reservation printed out. She then called the owner who told her that no I was in the other hotel. I had to explain that I booked based on location and pictures and that I didn't feel comfortable going somewhere else I didn't know and had never seen. She called him again and this time he told her to give me room no. 1. The room was nice and comfortable. It was somewhat clean. The floors needed a little mopping.. But fine. After all day walking around I came back to the hotel and there was some sort of party going on the backyard. Some people singing really loud. I didn't complain until it was about 11:30pm and someone started playing some kind saxophone.. Right under my door that opened to the small backyard. When I called the number I had for the reception (because there is no "reception") the owner picked up. Took them about an hour to stop the noise and turns out it was him and his family/friends who were in the backyard.. I'm not sure what he's thinking but it didn't feel that he took his business seriously. Oh and the breakfast is not included in this B&B..(what????) should not be called b&b at all.

Comfortable, rustic and so convenient
Just five minutes walk from Lucca city walls. On street parking - free down one side of the road. Our downstairs room (no.2) opened onto a communal terrace. Very high ceiling, air conditioning, refrigerator & kettle in the room. Breakfast - croissant, cereal, melba toast etc. then coffee, tea and juice or water served in a basement room a bit like a wine cellar! Clean room, all electrics worked, wifi okay.

Room very basic and simple. No information (code) for Wifi given. There's a walk into town of approx 15 minutes. The road in front of the hotel is strongly frequented by ambulances/polices cars. So prepare yourself to listen to the siren at any time.

Cheap B&B close to Lucca
Very nice B&B, close to Lucca walled city. 5 mins walk max. Stayed on top floor with beautiful wooden beams. Comfortable and clean room. Shower is in room which may put some off but was fine for us. Office has limited hours, and breakfast was not included in out rate and we chose to have it in the city. Everything done on check in and office was not open when we left at 10, so left keys in door when leaving. Owners live down stairs so was able to leave our luggage in the locked office and pick it up at 12 prior to leaving Lucca.

Great location, but that's it!
It might say B n B but if you want breakfast it costs an extra 5€. We had # 4 with a king bed, and bunkbeds. The kingbed is worn flat on the sides and still high in the center so it is like sleeping on a little hill. Which is too bad because it was a very comfy mattress. Wifi is terrible, we were rarely with service, or the signal strength was so weak we couldn't access internet or send/receive email. Property is completely unmanned after about 6pm, until service staff who come in about 7am. When we arrived about 4pm another couple was standing on the stoop in the rain and had been waiting 40+ minutes for someone to come let them in. Our fridge didn't work, and the shower head attachment was broken so that you had to hold it with one hand and shower with the other, thankfully my hubby was able to repair it. Property is basic and economy. Tiny shower with 11 inch opening. There was ample hot water, and little squeeze packets of shampoo were available. Property is a smoking property even though they say the 'rooms' are non smoking. Consequently you frequently have smoke smell in your room, especially if like our room the a/c won't blow and you need the windows open. Have no clue what the breakfast is like since it is served on the patio and I refused to walk through the smokers to check it out. Location is convenient to city walls and historic city. Nice neighborhood with restaurants and food store. Eva, super sweet and helpful. I would not return to this BnB.

Good for a one night stay
Hotel was very convenient to Lucca and that's what we wanted. Everything was fine, but nothing to write home about and certainly not someplace you'd want to hang around. But we had limited time to see Lucca, which was fantastic, and this hotel was in a good location and was very inexpensive.

Good location, pity about the hotel
The hotel was clean and the staff were really, really nice (couldn't speak very much English but shame on us for not speaking Italian). However, Room 108 is tiny, beams which you hit your head off, window shutter doesn't work properly, shower you have to use one hand to hold it (also cublcle tiny). Sorry, wish could give a better review.

The hotel is relatively basic with few services, but the location is great being so close to the walled city of Lucca, it is clean and there is plenty of free parking in the surrounding streets. I would avoid the breakfast as it is average plus there is a great cafe just around the corner.

Great location in Lucca
Great location as 5 minutes from one of the entrances to Lucca. Very little english spoken by staff, but still helpful. Room was very big, but the tiniest shower. Even my skinny husband found it hard to shower. Considering the bathroom/room was fairly spacious, they should really consider putting in a bigger shower. Despite the shower, excellent location for the price paid, as hotels within the walls a lot dearer.

Great location, decent accommodation
The hotel location is at an excellent location, within a short walking distance of the city center. The area is not very touristy and one can enjoy coffee shops and bakeries with other locals. The rooms are comfortable, nothing great and the breakfast is sparse. I would recommend eating at one of the coffee places nearby. The staff are nice and accommodating. Overall a nice experience. Great value for money.

Lots of character!
This is a beautiful hotel. We stayed in room 9 on the top floor, which is a beautiful romantic bedroom with a kingsize bed, orthopaedic mattress and gorgeous wooden beams. The bathroom and shower were very clean (although the shower was in the actual bedroom, which I wasn't a fan of). We arrived at the hotel at 1pm but found it difficult to find where reception was as it was inside the building, not 3 metres away as suggested by the sign outside. Once in reception, it was easy to check in and as we were early and our room wasn't ready, staff gave us a room that was already made, which was really helpful. You can choose to have breakfast there (it is 5 euros per person) but we didn't so I can't unfortunately comment on the food. When we checked out in the morning, no one was at reception and I couldn't find anyone in the breakfast room. We started to worry a bit as we had to rush to get our train. After 5 minutes, someone arrived so we checked out successfully. Friendly staff. Would recommend for a short stay and particularly for couples as it's very beautiful and romantic!

ok for an overnight stay, not for any longer
on arrival mid afternoon we couldnt gain access to the property, which we found a bit disturbing, a lady from a nearby launderette finally got the owners on the phone and we were let in.The person we spoke to at the hotel was not interested on our arrival, just handed keys over, we never saw anybody else during our five night stay, only the young girl dealing with the buffet breakfast in the mornings, she was very nice, maid service was ok, she was nice too.Overall i personally would not stay here again, the room itself was ok but all the property needs a good clean!!!!

A lovely B&B
This was a lovely B&B in Lucca. We had a spacious room with a TV and fridge. Breakfast was great and it was on the terrace so it was nice to sit in the morning sun. The B&B is within walking distance of the wall surrounding Lucca so it was easy to get in and out of the centre. The staff were helpful and freindly and I would definitely stay here again :)

Great BandB very comfortable-felt at home
My husband and I recently stayed in Lucca to visit the birthplace of my patron Saint Santa Gemma. We also visited the surrounding areas such as Florence, Pisa, and Borgo a Mazzano. Our room was very clean and cozy. We had our own personal bathroom which was very modern and nice. The staff was extremely friendly. The neighborhood is very quiet and a short walk or bike ride into the walls of Lucca. I would definately recommend this hotel to others who have similar plans to visit tuscany. Many spots in Tuscany can be visited in one day and this B&B in Lucca is a perfect home base.

Lovely B&B
Spent two night at this B&B and would definitely recommend it over a hotel in Lucca. Extremely convenient location - just 2 short blocks to city walls in good neighborhood. Only street parking available, but wasn't much of a problem. Nice yard available to guests, we picked up goodies and had a private picnic outside. Spacious, clean rooms. Lots of charm. Shower in the bedroom
So it was kind of weird that the shower was basically at the end of the bed, so I guess just be sure you're alone of with someone you love because it's tight quarters. In some rooms (like ours) if you're over 5'4" you'll bump your head in sections of the room. The location is great - a block from the old city, staff are great, and it's fine overall. Just a little funky with that shower by the bed!

Leone di Sant Anna B&B
We booked this B&B due to the reviews of friendly service. We arrived to a grumpy man, who told us the key was upstairs behind door - it was not there, that is about all he said!!! The maid got us a key, as the man was not around again. We wanted the password for Internet but could not find anyone. Next morning, still no one around!!! We checked out at 11am and grumpy did not say anything again but he did ring us a taxi to go to the train station. Room was fine and clean.

Very nice staff but the hotel lacks comfort
The owner and the staff were lovely people, however the bathrooms are tiny and the shower is almost impossible to get in and out of. The beds are merely study foam pads, which was disappointing. They need to upgrade their beds and furniture. The location was great, right outside the city walls. Stefano, the owner, was really a lovely guy, but when you travel you need a comfortable bed and adequate bathroom!

Best B&B in Italy
I stayed at the Leone di Sant' Anna while visiting Lucca, and could not have been more pleased. It is only two short blocks from 'Old Town'. The rooms are spacious, and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is served on the veranzza each morning, and there is a beautiful garden area with lawn chairs, a large wood burning grill, and jacuzzi. BUT....the BEST thing about this B&B are the incredible people that work there. Many, many thanks to Stephano, David and Maria. When I left, I felt as if I were leaving family. NO ONE has ever made me feel so welcomed, or been so helpful. I fell in love with the beautiful walled city of Lucca, and can't wait to visit again. If you're looking for the best of the best.....Look no further......this is the place! PS.....Hugs to Stephano, David and Maria.....I miss you already!

Nice neighbourhood and bedroom
Hotel bedroom decor was lovely, the room and the gardens were very nice. Was close to walled city gates, handy for bus station ( 5 min walk) slightly further to train (about 15 min) walk. Towels only got vhanged once during a 4 night stay - and they had been quite dirty as the towels were white. 2 changes would have been preferable. Staff helpful although he didn't initially have the key to our room and we asked to check out at 11.30 (it said 11 on our booking details) but the man said it was 10.00 and unchangeable. Lovely cafe/bakery round corner called New York Cafe, beds comfy, air con was good as it was v hot, bathroom nice.

Leone di Sant'Anna - Charming little hotel
The hotel is handily situated if you arrive by bus from Pisa airport - just 5 mins walk from the bus station. It is housed in an elegant old building just outside the city walls. Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful (and bi-lingual). I chose this hotel due to the availability of a family room for 2 adults/2 kids at a relatively modest rate. The top floor room we were given was clean, spacious, and had beds to sleep 5 people. Highly recommended for families therefore. The room also had character (exposed beams), air-conditioning and a small TV. Did not pay extra to have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that. Recommend this hotel and Lucca generally. .

Okay for the price but......
For what we paid we didn't expect luxury but room was clean, bed was comfortable and location was great so no complaints there. But room was at front of hotel which was on a very busy main road and the soundproofing was non-existent. Very heavy, very loud traffic from 7 until 7 plus loud motorbikes and police cars all night. Room was freezing (it was October) and heating didn't work. We put cover from spare bed on our bed and next day a duvet appeared (well done to staff for responding) but still no heating. And hot water very erratic - cold shower on some days, warm on others. Didn't ruin the holiday, but can't recommend to others.

Stayed for one night Twin Room - ground floor Beds slightly soft, but still got a great sleep Bathroom needed a clean, but still ok Booked a triple room shared bathroom, and got offered twin with ensuite instead. Felt sorry for the owner, as we got caught up in the delays after Pisa explosion - planned to get there for 8 and eventually arrived at 11.30pm. Couldnt find tel no to call ahead - but she prefers everyone to be in by 8.30pm understandably - felt really bad for getting her up but she was still reallty polite. Offered continental breakfast on top for 5euros -croissant and tea/coffee/hot chocolate/water/orange juice on the terrace. Cooked breakfast also available for 10euros. Great map provided Walk from the station if possible as we were charged 10euros for a detour.
