Pros: Great location, friendly staff, breakfast included.
Cons: dirty. Shower rooms need a proper scrub, only one room receives hot water (serving 4 rooms totalling over 25 beds), bins seem to be emptied in the morning so they stink by the afternoon, saw cockroaches running around between the beer empties that haven't been cleared away in what looks like months. Sheets and towels (provided) are stored on the dirty floor upstairs. In terms of sleeping there's no curtains on the bunks, no enforced quiet times (definitely a party hostel), and we saw workers changing bed sheets between guests but not pillow cover or blanket. Beds were comfortable and room was never hot.
Lockers aren't very secure and are a free-for-all. No one uses the one assigned to their bed; some of their doors are broken, there's no back so it wouldn't be too hard to pull the cubbies from the wall and reach into them from behind. Lockers also require a padlock; depending on the worker, it's either 50,000 kip or 20,000 kip to rent. We weren't sure with the different numbers we were told so we went and bought our own. Best to bring one.
Overall very budget friendly, great location, nice staff. If you're not too picky about cleanliness or going to bed early then it's fine.
