Have stayed in many places as I am a Sales Rep but this one stands out not only for the unique outdoor baths or the beautiful and historic designed slab hut accommodation it was THAT glorious BED that topped it off for me.

Lovely property so close to the Qantas Museum and Stockmans hall of fame. It's in a bush area so nice pool good. Had a laundry didnt use as card only ..Great bbq area huge eating area

Loved the outdoor tubs, very unique as were also the amazing slab huts. Loved the bbq and facilities along with the pool. So peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful to see the family of Kangaroo's so close. Thank you for the stay and the courtesy bus to and from the train station. We would love to come again.

We absolutely adored the slab hut at the Saltbush Retreat. The room had lovely period charm, with all the modern conveniences of a well provisioned room, with kitchenette. The queen bed was one of the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel, and the outdoor baths were a very relaxing way to unwind. To top it off, Wendy was the most perfect host - accommodating and very friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Unique and memorable stay
On our two week Qld. outback road trip this accommodation certainly excelled. We received a warm welcome on arrival and the hosts were courteous and helpful. Loved the set up in the slab hut and enjoyed using the outdoor bathtubs to soak in , have a drink and watch the sunset. Easy 2 to 3 minute drive into the town centre but within walking distance of the Qantas Museum and Stockman's Hall of Fame. Highly recommend Saltbush Retreat for a true outback experience.

Saltbush is incredible. From the beautiful Slab Huts to the outdoor baths under the stars and of course the staff. They simply could not have been more helpful to us, from an upgrade for one of our party on arrival so we could all be together, to arranging a change in accom style when we returned from Winton for another night. Thanks Nicole, Briony and Clint - amazing service! Thoroughly recommended!

Loved the atmosphere of the saltbush hut rooms. I will book again but for a longer stay!! There is a botanical walk right in front, across from Qantas museum and Stockman Museum. Quaint town, lovely shopping and walking the town.

We stayed at the stables and we loved it. Especially the kids. Great layout of the unit for families and great rustic furniture matching the horse stable feel. Very friendly staff and we would definitely recommend to stay there.

Absolutely gorgeous. Friendly check in. The stable theme is perfect. Room is large. Bed huge. Located exactly between Qantas Founders and Stockman’s Hall of fame. Smithy’s Outback Dinner Cruise pick up at the gate. What more could you want.

This property was nothing like what I booked. It was absolutely disgusting! Complaining to the staff I was told that is what I paid for and suggested that I upgrade for another $243. The place was dirty! Had cob webs everywhere! Had no seats to sit on apart from a couple of kitchen chairs and BUNKS! - my husband I are 73 years old. The space to park our car was so small (among the bush) my husband had trouble getting out. You could not use the wardrobe because it kept on coming off the track every time you tried to move it. There was the most disgusting mop in the bathroom and a yard broom. The bedroom had I presume a kitty litter tray that was worse then disgusting. A woman approached me the next day and she said she was in the office when I was complaining. She had the cabin next to us and she demanded that they give her another cabin - which they did. She assumed that they did the same for us. We had no choice but to stay there as all accommodations were booked out. The experience was such a shame as we were so looking forward to going to Longreach!

Very comfortable, spacious, rustic, but with many mod cons. We stayed in the slab hut which was lovely but got quite cold during the night. Fortunately, there were additional blankets and air conditioning to warm us up when it did get cold. While the parking was not at the door of the hut, the paths and trolley made it very easy to transport our bags from the car. The retreat is close to the QANTAS Founders Museum and the Stockman's Hall of Fame.
