For the Americans, I'd compare this to a Super 8.
The location was convenient. A 2 min walk to Paddington station. A £10 taxi from Hyde Park (rounded up). The staff was helpful and polite. The lobby is lush and lovely.
The room itself had pros and cons. It was clean, with its own air conditioning and heating unit. The bedding was clean and smelled nice. At first glance, it looked great. Once you see the details, there are things that lowered the rating to average. Furnishings that are broken (or actively breaking), the shower that has fantastic water pressure, but floods if you're in there for longer than 4 mins, the bidet sprayer you can't use because it will flood, etc. Overall, it was fine for a place to sleep in between long days spent exploring London.
There's a wonderful Italian restaurant directly across the street that opens around lunch and doesn't close till 10. Several coffee shops down the block for that morning caffeine hit (the room has an electric kettle, tea bags, and instant coffee). Cabs are everywhere, so it's easy to hop in and go wherever you want. Everything is walkable, and I felt safe doing so (even as a woman walking alone).
