- Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
The reception area gives an impression of a posh hotel, but its far from it. Hardly anyone available at reception to talk to in person or over the phone. The hotel itself was probably a grande one in the 70's or 80's as it appears they refuse to update it. The carpets are well worn out and full of stains right from reception (conference rooms, hallways and room itself). The room very out dated, no fridge and a manual heater. The reception and restaurant staff quite unpleasant. Only housekeeping were very polite and helpful. Could be because they seem to have loads of clients (proximity to transport and Gatwick), there doesnt seem to be any urgency to fix up the place. I wouldnt recommend it for a great experience, maybe as a very last resort, and not more than a night. What works is that its in a great location - good transport links into london (Victoria and London bridge within 15mins and Gatwick airport about the same time). Also loads of shopping and cinema in the area. The bed was comfortable (firm- which suits me), and pillows not too soft or hard. Just right. Didnt try out the food, ate out instead.
