Take in the lavish 1920s decadence of this stately theatre where the Beatles and Frank Sinatra once performed and Liverpool music history was made.

This legendary theatre is somewhat of a Hall of Fame in Liverpool, with some of the biggest names in the music business in its list of performances. Discover Liverpool’s rich music history, instilled into the theatre’s century-old stage. The Beatles played here in 1962 and Frank Sinatra followed his concert there with a drink at the bar. The theatre as it now stands was built in 1925, but the previous Empire Theatre dates back to 1866. The Empire holds all the architectural elegance of a classic 1920s theatre but the atmosphere is truly timeless.

To understand the theatre’s allure, take a seat at a show. The theatre has over 2,300 seats over two levels, making it one of the largest theatres in Britain. The theatre’s stately look is completed with high ceilings, lush red carpets and velvet curtains. Comfortable seats with great stage visibility make it an ideal theatre experience. The Empire is a popular spot for locals and the box office regularly sells out. See a variety of shows: operas, bands and stand-up comedy, to name a few. Tickets can be purchased at the box office in the foyer or online.

If you just want to see the theatre’s lavish interior, visit during the day and check out the Grand Salon, located on the ground floor. The salon is open daily and features the same lush decoration as the theatre itself. Take a seat at the bar and enjoy a drink while taking in fantastic views of the city. Sample some scouse, a local traditional stew, at the theatre’s restaurant.

The Liverpool Empire Theatre is open daily and is totally wheelchair accessible. Enter the Grand Salon, theatre foyer and restaurant for free. Ample street parking is available or catch the metro to Lime Street station, located a block away from the theatre.
