I stayed at El Cortez from 4/16/24 through 4/19/24. I stayed on LV only to have closer access to Valley of Fire State Park, and less expensive flights from my home. I do not gamble, and when I entered the casino to check in, the whole casino/check in area was a very strong and pungent smell of cigarette smoke, vape smoke, and pot marijuana smoke--it was very nauseating and made me feel sick. I understand that smoking is legal inside buildings in NV, but I was very turned off by this. I was thankful that the check in lady did upgrade my room to the Cabana Suites, to be away from the casino, and to be in a non smoking area. I very much appreciated that. I was a little disappointed that Siegal's was not open by 0600, as I left town to hike early in the morning. Overall, I did appreciate the upgrade, but I stayed at El Cortez based upon a recommendation. I would say that if one does not gamble, and does not like pungent odors, I would not recommend.

Great room! Great staff! I think the pillows are as old as the hotel. The elevator in the cabana suits has a mind of its own. It earned its nickname “corky at the Cortez.” Overall 6 outta 10

First time in Vegas for the hubby’s birthday,, We like historic hotels so booked one of the ‘original 47’ rooms at El Cortez, which is in an amazing location near Freemont street and walking distance to the cool arts district. The first room we got had not been cleaned properly so we were switched to a different room but the safe was not working in that room even after they quickly sent security to try and repair it. We had dinner reservations so were worried about making it to dinner on time but the manager on duty, Mary, was awesome and made it right by immediately switching us to a third room down the hall which was clean with a working safe. We loved the retro vibes and could not hear any noise from the street. Just a heads up that you have to request housekeeping, we didn’t know (but didn’t really need it since we were switched to a room with 2 beds and so just switched between beds). When we called to inquire about why we didn’t have housekeeping, they explained that it has to be requested and then offered to bring us some fresh towels which was really all we needed and brought them to us straight away. The El Cortez casino is really fun, also with cool vintage vibes except for the modern bathrooms at the casino which were spotless! Friendly staff throughout the hotel, highly recommend.

Ac did not work for 2-days....house keeping did not make the bed 2-days in a row and when they did come the room was left open. Luckily nothing was taken/missing. Asked about a wheel chair for a person we were traveling with and counter staff passed to to security and they had no idea , then we went back to the counter. They didn't know where to get one or pricing. 😞 was frustrating.

No luck at the casino but the views on floor 14 are amazing and the location is the best. My only complaint is they made me wait 50 extra minutes to check in after 2pm (which is check in time) since it was still getting cleaned and when I got to the room, the bathroom floor was still gross and the wardrobe was dusty. Overall tho, I would absolutely go back next time I’m in Vegas. Very cool, older hotel that has a spark of classic Vegas.

The room was clean, but my night on 4/22 was noisy, loud music playing at 0100, and intermittent vehicle traffic all night. I stayed at the Cabana Suites, and while I highly appreciated it was away from the casino area, and that it was non smoking, I had difficulty sleeping with the noise during the night.

I liken this hotel to a hotel in Rosarito, MX. ;) It was party central, for sure, very loud and rambunctious. If that's what you are looking for, it would be very fun. It wasn't super nice or super clean, but it was cheap and the staff was very nice. For my purposes it was not great with the noise from Fremont St, but....

The room was ok. It clean at least. But very dim lighting (especially in the bathroom) TV remote didn't work and the buttons on the TV wouldn't change the channel either. Room got hot couldn't control the temp. Won't be staying here again

This hotel is a great location to access all that Fremont Street has to offer for a very reasonable price. We stayed in a tower room and it was updated and very convenient and comfortable. I highly recommend this location!!

I haven’t stayed here for a long time, but I saw the beautiful remodel that was done and I had to see it for myself. WOW!!!! I absolutely loved it! So clean So beautiful! They did an amazing job! The staff was so helpful and friendly! BUT THE PART WAS meeting the Owner of EL Cortez on the elevator! So friendly, shaking hands with everyone. So down to earth!! I was so surprised how humble he was. I WILL BE BACK FOR A VISIT VERY SOON!!!

Bathroom was dirty with hair in the shower. Shower surround was old and grimy looking. Cheaper price than other hotels in area. Still charged a resort fee, and for what?
