We arrived on a Thursday evening and were supposed to stay until Sunday but checked out Friday due to the house having roaches. The house did not seem like it had been cleaned and was very musty. The property manager was very attentive and gave me no issues with a refund due to this issue. There is a tenant on the first floor and I definitely feel like this should be disclosed in the description.

A Great, Affordable Hideaway
We wanted to get away for a quiet long weekend in Surfside in mid-April. This rental was just what we needed. The house is nestled in a quiet nook in Surfside, two blocks from the water, in between the jetty and the intersection between State Highway-288 and SH-322 E. It is as secluded as you’re going to get on the ocean side without driving most of the way to San Luis Pass. At the same time, you are close by to Surfside’s restaurants and stores. It’s a little rustic looking outside, but inside it’s well finished. The furniture is new, the king bed is comfortable, and all appliances are in working order. The kitchen is well laid out, with plenty of room to cook. The essentially new charcoal grill is under the front outside stairway, next to a swing sofa that is suspended from the underside of the front porch. The house’s ingenious layout makes everything close by but somewhat separated. There is a kids’ bunk room that is tucked in besides the kitchen. The second bedroom is immediately adjacent to the living room and right next to the central full bathroom. This arrangement eliminates the need for anyone to go through the master bedroom to use its full bathroom. The master bedroom has its own porch and stairway. There is also a front porch off the living room with a stairway. This is really the main entrance, so, again, people can enter and exit without going through the master bedroom. The front porch easily accommodates four adults and provides a view towards the ocean; the back porch holds more but the view is back inland. There is a neighbor downstairs on the first floor, but they are quiet and courteous. So is everyone else in the neighborhood. The main Surfside beaches are a short drive to the north. However, a two-block walk takes you to the shore. Go to the right and there is a small beach that you will have pretty much to yourself on a weekday. Part of our stay was a busy weekend for off-season; the beach was not crowded and not at all raucous. Go With The Flow is a great value. It’s a reasonably-priced beach house rental. Is everything perfect? No, because no typical Surfside beach house has everything perfect. We had one small issue, so we called the management. They immediately sent someone to address it and following up to ensure that it had been fixed. This place is nice, quiet, close to everything we’d want to go to and most of all, very comfortable.

Nice little place - not fancy but comfortable and clean. Property manager stopped by and welcomed us
Nice cottage in Surfside.

3/5 Okay

Just Okay
I really wanted to like this place, the communication and response from the co-owners was awesome. The decor was also pretty cute. But I feel like there were some things left off the description. First, this is not within walking distance to the beach - to the ocean, yes. But it is just the sea wall no beach. You will have to drive to the sandy beaches but, they are not far. There is even a free one just a little bit further down. The downstairs space is also not available for use, someone actually lives on the ground floor. The only outdoor space you will have are the two balconies and they are not big enough to really hang out with your company. I would go out and have my morning cup of coffee but, the downstairs occupant has a dog and would bark when I went outside or went downstairs to leave. There is no outdoor shower or water hose - I thought this was weird for a "beach house" so you will bring your sand in the house or take it home with you. The beds we awful. All of them. The bunkbed room is very tight but, the mattresses were so thin. My girls 13 and 16 both said there were so thin and backs hurt them. They also do not make these beds and it is so tight in there it is really hard to make them. The 2nd bedroom's mattress had the biggest dip and was sooo squeaky. If you are one person you are going to the middle and if there are two of you, you will use a lot of muscle to try and stay out of the dip. It was not good sleep. I did not sleep in the master bedroom but, my sister said it was hard as a rock for her. Did not sleep well and woke up with sore back. Because of COVID I go in before my family and spray and whip down. The main, high touch areas are clean. However, the nooks and crannies are not. So much sand and dust bunnies around the floorboards and under bed (just because I needed to plug in a lamp all of this was noticed). Also, the air vents appeared to never have been wiped, it was kind of gross. No, I did not complain about this because, I did not want anyone to come back out nor was I asking for any kind of refund. I feel like this might be a problem because they posted a sign on the refrigerator. I just wiped up what bugged me and left the rest. Just know this place is not spotless. We did not cook much so I can't speak on what the kitchen was stocked with but, we had plenty of cups, plates and silverware. The water was fine for us, water pressure was excellent. I also like there are was leather couch.
