The Westin Miyako hotel was beautiful! The room was huge. The nature walking trail that it has is amazing. We took the benefit of usung their shuttle bus to and from kyoto station. The staff was very kind and respectful. Every time we walked in or out of the the hotel the staff wpuld greet us by bowing and i was amazed by their beautiful art inside the hotel.

Thank you very much for staying at The Westin Miyako Kyoto.Our hotel is located on a hill in Kyoto, surrounded by the rich nature and historical buildings of Higashiyama. 2 minutes walk from Keage subway station. Nanzenji Temple and Heian Shrine are within walking distance. It's a nice walking course that passes Heian Shrine and passes through Konkai Komyoji Temple on the way to Kyoto University. We will continue to strive to improve our services so that our customers can spend their time with us as comfortably as possible. We love this hotel so much thay we already started planning for our next stay here. The onsen/ spa was nicely planned and well equipped while the staff were super attentive and helpful. I love all the details that were very thoughtful to the guests e.g. flashlight by the bedside, newspaper for your morning hung at the door, separate lift access for spa and gym. Location was a bit off central but they are located literally next to the Tozai line and the popular Yamamoto Menzou udon place.

They are renovating this wonderful gem to celebrate its 130th anniversary in 2020 to coincide with the Olympics. I was lucky to stay in a room newly renovated and it was wonderfully beautiful right down to the state of the art Toto bathroom fixtures.

A 4 star hotel masquerading as a 5 star, with 5 star prices. Staff very nice, room and hallways smelled like toxic chemicals the whole visit (maybe they had just renovated?). The decor and lobby is outdated, they tried to CHARGE me for using the pool lol. It would be nice to get some money back, compared to the 5 star we stayed at in Tokyo and Osaka at the same price, a let down.

The hotel is undergoing renovation, so some rooms are dated/poorly laid out. Expect this to not be the case in the future. The mattress is rather firm The hotel does have a plentiful buffet breakfast, and a complimentary shuttle bus to/from Kyoto station. The location is perfect for quiet evenings and exploring Higashiyama. Definitely stay here again

Nice Hotel, Convenient Shuttle Service
Westin Hotel in Kyoto had friendly and courteous staff. There was a free shuttle service that provided stops to select train/subway stations. The hotel room was chic and beautiful. Very relaxing atmosphere. The bathroom had a spa appeal. The pool was nice and relaxing, but the closing hour was 9:00p.m. and there was a $5 (501 Yen) charge per guest to use the pool per day. I was not aware of this until we arrived to the hotel. The breakfast buffet was ok. I would not have purchased it separately had it not been included in the Travelocity room package. It would have been $27 per person and the food and drink selection was mediocre.

During our 3 night stay we found the hotel good, a bit outdated, but large rooms and good facilities and very friendly staff. Keep in mind that you have to pay extra for some facilities like the pool, sauna etc. which is interesting for a five star hotel.

It was definitely a beautiful location located on a hill. Concierge was very helpful and offered great options. Didn’t expect to have to pay to use the swimming pool. That’s my only complaint.

Though the Westin Miyako attempts to be accommodating, unfortunately, it does not meet American hotel standards. Firstly, for a business hotel, the wifi does not work well in the rooms. Luckily, I had purchased my own mobile wifi. Secondly, our shower-heads did not work, which is really disappointing for a hotel of this stature. The staff was kind enough to try and fix it but to no avail. However, and this is important to note, that my friend who stayed on the floor above us had the exact same issue so it is a hotel wide issue. Thirdly, the concierge, while kind, gave us incorrect information about restaurant hours (most places close between 3-6 on Wednesdays in Kyoto) and thus, we walked around for a couple hours looking for a place to eat. Starbucks is the only thing we found open. Not the traditional kyoto meal we had in mind. Finally, the coffee bar does not open until 8:30am, so if you dont want a full breakfast, you really have no other alternative. Again, respectful staff and great shuttle service but I will not be staying with Westin again.

Nice hotel close to a subway station & many sights
I was initially very disappointed with my first room, however once I switched rooms, I was very pleased with my stay. The staff was very polite and helpful, from the reception desk to the concierge and the restaurant staff. The hotel was conveniently located very close to a subway station and to many sights. Great breakfast buffet with a wide selection of both Japanese and western foods.

Excellent and friendly staff. In particular, Kaori from the concierge desk was amazing and thoughtful. Good location but not ideal as it is a short taxi ride away from most popular areas. Being next to a subway station is a big advantage Hotel itself is old and in need of refurbishment. We stayed in a family room but it did not have temperature control. Gym is mediocre but swimming pool is excellent.

What a great experience we had at the Westin in Kyoto from the beautiful and incredibly spacious room to the courteous and invaluable staff. The views from the 11th floor are breathtaking and the amenities like the pool are top rate. The buffet breakfast featured a delicious feast of Japanese and Western dishes. To top it off, we were so impressed when after leaving our bags to do a last round of sightseeing the attendants held us up to say we had left behind some of my wife's jewelry in the room. Thank you so much for making our anniversary special.

The lobby was over-heated, and our 11th floor room stayed too warm despite keeping the heat completely off and opening the small window to let in the cold air. (It was a chilly 41 degrees Fahrenheit outside.) Guests in the next room played music loudly until 11:30 PM. The walls were thin enough we could hear them every time they spoke.

Japanese Style room old and smelly
Japanese style room is very old. Also low beams so be careful not to hit your head a couple of times like we did. The bathroom had a strong urine odor that spread throughout the whole room. Room felt damp and cold. Would not stay here again. Staff themselves though were very friendly and nice.

Good family hotel
Good place to stay with teenagers. The triple room was twice the size of other rooms we stayed at in Japan. Shuttle was a winner and close to two fab temples locations.
