Lovely guest house, great breakfast.
Booked this last minute as our Lanzarote holiday was cancelled en route to the airport due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Clearly we were both feeling very down. The web site pictures looked very nice so I booked it as a surprise for Gillian. She didn't know where she was going till we got there and her mood changed from being down to being happy (as possible given the circumstances). The building looked very inviting, the "welcome pack" was excellent and the room was really lovely. We stayed in room 1 with the nice 4 poster bed. A quick 5 minute walk takes you into the heart of Keswick with coffee shops, bars and shops. Unfortunately the weather was poor so we didn't spend a lot of time there and headed back to the room. We watched a bit of TV in the room before heading back into town for a Chinese meal. The next mornning, we were provided with a breakfast which used ingredients from local suppliers and really was excellent. Not a massive breakfast but not tiny. It really was just right and very well cooked. Service was excellent, very friendly and we were not made to feel like "just a couple of punters". There is no doubt that our stay at Stonegarth Guest House lifted our mood from the disappointment of having our first holiday together cancelled. I can highly recommend Stonegarth which is surrounded by guest houses which I'm sure are actually lovely but do look a little more down market. We wouldn't hesitate to book again and more than likely will.
