The restaurant that the hotel used to have has sadly gone, the only place to eat is the bar, it was ok but not as nice as when we ate in the restaurant The room we had was nice but tired The spa area was nice but was spoilt by noisy children that were left to their own devices, using the spa facilities even though they were too young

The hotel was lovely, the spa was clean and delightful, the food was excellent and all round it was a very pleasant stay. Unfortunately, the hotel was quiet due to the snow, but otherwise everything was fine.

The staff are great- a credit
The Staff where welcoming and made you feel welcome and at ease, even when there was a power cut the staff where polite and calming when others around them were getting heated, well done Gemma you are a credit to the hotel.

We enjoyed our two night stay, nice big hotel, friendly staff, ample parking, brilliant shower and lovely views! The food isn’t brilliant just average pub food and the drinks are quite expensive for the area! Parts of the hotel are looking a bit tired now and in need of a refurbishment!

Pleasant break
A pleasant two-night break. Hotel is good and reasonably priced though you'll struggle for things to do nearby if you don't have a car. Nice room, comfy bed and the restaurant is good too

Not normally a fan of giving bad reviews but as the hotel staff didn't care to ask.... This hotel has to be the most dates old fashioned hotel I have ever stayed in. I would predict the rooms where last updated in the 1980s at the same time the mattress was replaced, it had 0 support. The bathroom very similarly had no luxury / comfort or nice features. We stayed in an Exec room, I have no idea what was executive in that room. certainly not the 15 year old tv. Breakfast wasnt great either. We went for the cooked option that consisted of microwaved scrambled eggs. undercooked black pudding 3 rashers of bacon stuck to each other and some beans. (beans where good) I think it is a clear indication of a hotel on check out when you aren't asked how was your stay or how was your room as they know full well at £190 per night it was appalling. Give this hotel a miss

Lovely hotel but staffing could be better
Nice hotel with a lovely pool, good breakfast etc. Unfortunately the staff let it down. Reception staff very unhelpful to me and other guests that were in front of me. Not enough staff at breakfast.

The hotel is very convenient for the North Lakes. Good to be a few miles away from overcrowded Keswick. Loads of parking, and rare to find a swimming pool in the area at a reasonable price. Really appreciated the pool and Jacuzzi after a day walking. booked a standard room and found it to be a good size and well furnished. Only serves meals in the bar but ours turned out to be very good. Breakfast nothing special but quite ok. Hannah was friendly and helpful on reception. Been before and will go again.

The room was very dated and the mattress was so uncomfortable, very thin and full of springs, the hair dryer was broke in the room, the shower curtain was full of marks and so was the bed sheet

The gym and pool facilities were excellent, the grass tennis court was an unexpected bonus with an interesting bounce, the food in the bar was excellent, and the rooms were very comfortable. We’d definitely stay there again.

Comfortable room and facilities car a must.
The room and leisure facilities were good with good outdoor seating areas. The location requires a car so ok as a base. The food served in the Tavern bar was disappointing. The starters were ok but pricey and the main meal we had a type of chicken curry consisted of processed chicken and lack lustre would not recommend as is. The staff were lovely.

Lovely hotel, set in beautiful countryside. Room traditional, well equipped and clean. Nice to have Bath n the room which is unusual these days. Bars didn’t open till 4pm so couldn’t get a pint when we arrived. Food was ok, but the staff were lovely

Great hotel
Really enjoyed our stay here, the pool and leisure facilities were wonderful and clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful too and the grass Tennis court was really fun to play on! Breakfast was delicious.

The property was in a lovely setting, and very central for places to visit. The breakfast was lovely. The only downside was no evening menu only bar food which there wasn’t much to choose from. We were quite disappointed as were looking forward to the Al a carte menu which we had when we visited some years ago. So we had to go elsewhere for evening meal

A short two night stay with friends. Relaxing, comfortable & welcoming. Great being able to utilise leisure facilities. Just wish there was a little more selection of evening meal choices. Breakfast was very good, tasty & plenty!

I was woke up 8.30am with the cleaners banging and talking cleaning next door. Receptionist wasnt welcoming at all and looked moody the moment we walked in. Drinks at hotel bar are also expensive

Great place to stay, and i always love coming back here. The Leisure facilities are great, and the staff are all friendly and accommodating. Also appreciate the flexibility of later check out option.

Nice hotel clean and warm. Good pool and spa but they dont sell swimwear and hotel is 5 miles from shops. Made a request for breakfast due to allergies but they ignored this and so i was not able to eat. No apology or refund when raised with staff so we left early.

Had a lovely stay. Room was warm and cosy. We asked for an upper floor quiet room and we got that plus an upgrade!! Breakfast was really nice and good service. Room was cosy and warm but corridors and state rooms had no heating which wasn't a problem for us. Lounge bar was good for food and drinks. Staff were friendly and efficient. We have stayed previous and used the pool and gym but didn't have time. Would return again lovely views and gardens.

Dissapointing to say the least.
Well, arrived at reception around 2.30pm, no one to be seen. Had to use the phone to call for someone to come and check us in. Tried at that point to charge us for the dog, when I had received communications via Hotel.com that the room (which was a more expensive one) was not one of their dog friendly rooms, so they have moved us to a different dog room and we wouldn’t be charged for the dog. Room, in fact the whole hotel was very tried, in need of a refresh, updating and some heating on. Bar are extremely cold where we had to sit for dinner and breakfast with the dog. Service slow, other tables who arrived later than us served before etc even after I requested if someone could take our order. Pool, jacuzzi out of order for the weekend!!!! One reason why I booked the hotel. Food average, to say the least. Room had not been hovered, and bathroom floor had dust, hair etc on it. Check out, once again tried to charge me for the dog!!! Person in front of use was complaining that their room had not been cleaned as they found food etc on the floor!!! Sorry lovely setting but let down by the ‘old, dated, cold’ hotel, food and service.

Favourite Place in The Lakes!
A favourite place to stay in The Lake District. Always welcoming and great facilities, flexible with arrival and leaving times. All perfect for me, i could not ask for anything more!
