3/5 Okay

Good house bad location
The house was new and well appointed. Staff were great and kept the place clean and well maintained. They really need a guest manual on how to work many of the items in the house (lights, stove, tv). Unfortunately there was no sleeping...because (1) roosters; (2) noisy neighbors; (3) bugs and no mosquito netting for beds or screens for windows. The road from the house into town is paved for a short stint (through the wealthy homes) and then turns to a horrible rutted road as it passes by poor and traditional village people slowing getting driven from their communities. It was a stark "have and have not" reality. Amed itself is overrun with tourists and mopeds and divers. The reef and coral is being destroyed by ignorant tourists and there is little or no signage educating them about not touching or standing on coral, etc. Overall, we would not stay here again. We felt bad for what seemed to be uphill neighbors who were not keen on the vacation rental that was built right below their compound...Also gravel as the landscaping around the pool area seemed weird (and hard on your feet). Buy groceries and beer/alcohol before you get to Amed.
