This hotel is kind of tucked away by the water. It’s just far enough to be peaceful, but just far enough to make walking through the main city a little chore. I didn’t know that this hotel was more like a furnished apartment building. The room was fabulous and I wanted to take the bed home with me. The extra blankets were soft and fluffy so we could cuddle up in the couch and watch the ships with our balcony door open. Staff were super friendly. Uber was able to find us here and our tour pick ups were pretty close by. I would definitely stay here again.

Great to stay in the marina and see the yachts/boats moored in the evening light, and even better to wake up to the beautiful sight of the Hobart waterfront. Just amazing.

Great location but disappointing stay
Our experience at Somerset on the Pier in Hobart was a mixed bag. Its central location is undoubtedly convenient, situated in the heart of the city, but this comes with considerable noise from nearby nightlife, particularly noticeable on weekends. The room fell short of our expectations for a four-star hotel. It appeared outdated and the cleanliness level was unsatisfactory. The room amenities were lacking too, especially noticeable with not enough chairs for our group. Housekeeping was inconsistent, often overlooking restocking essentials like tea and coffee, our bin in the kitchenette was not emptied, and at times, our room was not cleaned as expected. The parking situation proved to be a challenge. The hotel's limited parking in a nearby public area was frequently occupied, often leading to significant inconvenience. The staff's approach to resolving this issue was not particularly effective, leaving us to find parking spots a fair distance away on several occasions. This hotel might be suitable for those who prioritise a central Hobart location and are prepared to overlook certain shortcomings in terms of comfort and service. However, it does mean compromising on the overall quality and experience one would expect from a four star hotel.

Our parking is complementary but subject to availability, we have spoken with the city about acquiring more car spaces, however due to our location the number of spaces is limited. The view of the water from the room was lovely and the little balcony perfect for a view of Hobart Harbour and beyond. It was very quiet below our rooms. The layout of the loft room and the second bedroom with the additional bathroom upstairs was fine with sufficient privacy for two adults wanting separate rooms. The staff were very accommodating with our requests. The location was perfect with tour meeting place, cafes and quality pubs a close walk. Would definitely stay again.

It locates at the waterfront. We got access to a very nice view within 1-2 minute(s) walk. The staff were helpful in offering us a pleasant stay (e.g. helping us to store the luggage for one night when we headed to Launceston; providing washing powder for laundry; offering us late check-out etc.)

Whilst the view is amazing and the foyer lovely the rooms why list large and roomy were quaint the bathroom was old fashioned and we could hear every single word of the rooms next door and every movement. It also doesn’t have any streaming devices on the non smart tvs and needs a serious upgrade. The heater is so loud it drowned out some of the other rooms. I wouldn’t stay here again and would pay extra and stay at Maq1 or the Art Hotel across the pier. Lesson. learned.

This property was in a great location, very central and easy walking to many things to do. The room was a little cold to begin with but the staff were very helpful in supplying an extra heater. The light in the room and the view were lovely. Would definitely stay there again.
