If you want a flavour of every day Habana life than stay in this lovely hostal. It's located in the Historic Centre, but unlike those in Europe etc, many surrounding buildings are derelict and the streets show lack of investment. That's not to say it's run down but it's genuine. Location is great, walking distance to Capital, and Plaza Vieja. Also great is the team running the place, very helpful. They showed great concern and were very helpful to me as I brought a tummy bug from Mexico. However, a word of caution , it's an old building in a living neighbourhood...there are no double grazed window, in fact no windows at all, so you get to hear the noise of Habana. Also if you are on the 1st floor you will hear noise from the bar if they hold impromptu late night partying/drinking. All this has to be balanced against the charm of the old building with its antique pieces and the warmth and helpfulness of the staff.
