Our room was very small, but we found places to put our bags. There were many pluses. Good quality coffee and tea in the room, with fresh milk from Reception. Really good toiletries in the bathroom and a great shower. We enjoyed our complimentary wine and cheese in the bar next door and the really very good continental breakfast provided in the lounge. The location is also excellent. Staff were all very pleasant.

Great little hotel in the heart of Freo. Nice little evening touch with a free drink and help yourself snacks in open back bar area. Unfortunately the continental breakfast is very 'hit and miss'and a bit of a shambles to be honest. We had two breakfasts ,each time we had to ask for milk, butter and even water for the kettle for tea. Its basically toast and jam ,the bread may have seen better days.

Convenient and comfortable stay
Really great stay and I’d come back. The rooms are comfortable and modern and the complimentary light breakfast and wine/cheese happy hour are nice touches. Quick walk to the beach, local restaurants (great recs from the hotel), and ferry. The staff was very helpful in moving my room due to an A/C issue. My only suggestions are the rooms could use a deep cleaning and please regularly change your filters (they are thick with dust)!

Will stay again.
The hotel is a fabulous hotel with very friendly sky staff, great service and a plethora of added benefits such as a glass of wine & cheese plate in the afternoon, as well as a small, but tasty breakfast. Just be prepared for the very small rooms. Ours was on the ground floor and even though it had a large window, was still fairly dark. The room was clean, comfortable and well appreciated, but small. They call them ‘cabins’ and I have to say, they were smaller than the ships cabins I’ve been on. It’s not a criticism- just be prepared. Oh and for shorty like me, the hanger in the wardrobe was so high up, even on my top toes I couldn’t reach! The area is also very good. So close to amazing restaurants and walking distance down to the water. We also took out the bikes (free) from the hotel, which was lovely.

The rooms were very small with not much storage space for your belongings, our room door was left open all afternoon by house keeping on day 2 which made us very uncomfortable to know our belongings were all on show. Further to this housekeeping often wasn’t completed until the late afternoon when we were attempting to get ready for dinner. The hotel also take a $350 bond on arrival which is not disclosed at time of booking. The rooms also have an open plan bathrooms which may not be suitable unless sharing with a partner. However the hotels location was great and your can walk to most places in Fremantle. If you do have a car it is $30 a day to park at the hotel if they have a spot available for you otherwise parking around the hotel is by the hour.

We stayed for 3 nights. The room was so small that we cannot open a 28’ luggage. No basic toiletries like sanitary bag or shower cap provided. The shower spray holder was spoilt. The breakfast was a fail, only cereals and toast bread which we only tried on 1st morning. However the excellent staff service has overcome all the above flaws. They were friendly and helpful at all times. The bottled water was free flow, unlike most hotels only 2 bottles per day.

Not sure why I got VIP access. Room was a bit loud from street noise Sat night. Liked the breakfast, glad to have coffee anytime there. Staff were great!!

Absolutely fantastic!
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Hougoumont! We received a very warm welcome upon arrival, the room was comfortable and clean, the nightly drinks & nibbles at the micro brewery bar next door were superb and the continental breakfast set us up perfectly for each day. All the staff were lovely and friendly, the location is unbeatable - right in the centre of Freo and close to the Rottnest ferry - and we will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Freo!

Amazing location, plenty of restaurants and things to do within walking distance. Staff were so kind and welcoming, special thanks to the lovely host (sadly didn’t get her name) for taking the time to assist us with parking when we arrived. Definitely will be staying at the Hougoumont next time we visit Freemantle

The Hotel was a lovely surprise, we had not visited before, but will definitely be visiting again. Super clean, super friendly, charming and helpful staff. Very central to Fremantle's main eating and shopping atea, very convenient. We ate at the sister restaurant Sailing with Oranges and had a fabulous meal. The staff their were also very helpful and knowledgeable. What an amazing experience, cannot thank the Hotel enough. Well done and such an asset to Freo.

The location was excellent. Our room 105 was only fit for single occupancy with a small bed,no room for a suitcase and a toilet virtually next to the bed. The bed and it’s covers were far too small and with no temperature control it was an unpleasant evening. Fremantle can do better than this.

I am not sure if you have contacted our Friendly Team, we could have offered a different room at the Hougoumont Hotel or a Suite at the New Haus, just across the road. We are sorry your agent did not carefully read our description on the Wotif.com portal. The size of our rooms is very well explained and advertised anywhere on the web. The next time please ask your agent to book you in one of our Staterooms, 32 sqm will satisfy your space requirements. Best regards, Marco, General Manager
