The hotel is not exactly as the pictures show, it's at least 4-5 years out of date. Our room was not as clean as we liked, the duvet and bedsheets had seen better days, not even a wash would of cleaned them. There were 2 afternoons, where the pool bar was being prioritised for 10 individuals who were in a party mood, the bar man who was Australian seem to be entertaining them with throwing ice around, and shouting rude gestures every so often. He continued to play very loud, head banging music, even though some of the speakers surrounding the pool area sounded as they were about to blow. I wouldn't stay here again. The Balinese staff were friendly and nice to speak too. This stay is not for all, maybe it's just Canggu that we didn't particularly take a liking too. It's just for partying Aussies.

Sense is worth considering if your staying in Canggu and wat to be away from the busy shops and roads, the hotel is not that close to the beach so you will need a bike or cab to get to the various beaches. Great poll with nice access from the ground floor rooms and swim up bar.

Depends on what you're looking for
For the price paid, there are a lot of better options for both location and activity. Some of the villas on the neighbouring roads are cheaper and better. Cons: Maybe before the pandemic it would have been somewhat worth the price, as there are signs that the area was gentrifying, but post pandemic many of businesses are not back up, and they've shut the road to the beach so this is now basically the furthest possible hotel to the beach because of how the roads in Bali work (ie you basically have to go all the way back up the road and back down the next road that leads to the beach). This basically turned a 4 min walk into a 15-30 min potholey car/bike ride depending on which beach you want to go to. That doesn't sound too exhausting... except we wanted to surf and the idea of having to get in a car wet and sandy every day was just not tenable. Pros: There's a great cafe next to the hotel though which everybody goes to, probably because it's the only cafe within walking distance. Service was nice... helpful and smiley. The room was clean but the sheets have this damp texture that might be because of the humidity. Pool was super clean, no random leaves and insects floating in it which I appreciate, and the sun (when there's some) gets on the pool directly so it could be a good place to retreat to. Note: Some of the recent reviews lamented about construction next door. When we were there it looked like the noisy construction was pretty much done, it was quite quiet.

The rooms smells like the sewer, staff is rude and on their phones 24/7 - breakfast is nasty and they have a habit of over booking and downsize you to a cheaper room.

Nice property but not maintained properly. Shower was waterlogged, doesn't feel very clean. Kettle was also a little rusty. But still a pleasant stay. Massage was not bad and frontdesk service was good.

Paid to upgrade to pool access room and it was worth it! Appreciated the helpful staff who got me medical attention when injured. The location is 10mins away from Echo Beach. Be sure to check out the spa and food next door.

Would not recommend!! Nicer hotels in the area
Staff is terrible, they play loud music fairly early in the morning. While the rooms are ok, the service is absolutely terrible. This is not a 4 star hotel. I’ve been staying at hotels in the same area (same price range) that are much better. While staying at the hotel, they don’t treat you as if you are the guest! Everything you ask for is a huge task for them. Asking them for an extra towel was a big deal. When paying for food, I noticed that they shorted me the amount. This happened on three separate occasions... not until the third did I bring it up. Their answer was simply “we don’t have change sorry”. Would not recommend!!!

Nice but not nice
Lovely looking hotel, clean and modern rooms with a lovely pool area. However avoid the food and drinks!! Firstly we noticed that on the menu they offered a vegan pizza with Parmesan cheese. Then when I ordered the vegetable rice for breakfast, it came with chicken. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until halfway through eating it. I am a vegetarian.

Great lovely resort hidden in Canggu. 5-10 walk to echo beach. Downside our room wasn't ready by 2pm check in time and also pool towels not available down pool had to wait for staff member. Overall though would comeback n stay here. Good vibes.

The staff star calling us 10 min before the check out time and many times to hurry. By accident we broke a simple class, they charge us. House keeping couldn’t find a small towel, that also wanted to charge us...finally they found it... Terrible service ! I’ll never stay there again !

The Sense Hotel Canggu was an great Hotel with amazing staff that couldn’t do enough for you. It is close to the beach which have lots of cafes. Rooms are well appointed and very clean. Breakfast each day was also good.

It’s Fine
The rooms are great, big, clean, comfortable. The hotel is a bit of walk to the center area, you have to walk to the beach and across the beach, which is nice, but plan for about a 10-15 minute walk. Otherwise it’s a 15 minute cab ride since there is a river that you have to drive all the way around since there is no bridge to cut through to save time. Not a huge hinderance, but something to be aware of if you think you’re going to be right “in” town. The staff and service I found to be unhelpful and honestly aggravating at times. As a customer it felt like I was always inconveniencing them and for a “Four Star Hotel” the “concierge” couldn’t be less informed. But, the rooms and the pool are pretty of that’s what you’re looking for. We were told by friends that you’re never at your hotel in Canggu since you’re always out, which was true, so unless you really want space and a big beautiful room, probably easier to just stay in town on the other side of the river.

Weekend away in Canggu
We had a short stay at Sense Canggu and found the hotel to be in great condition with nice facilities and a comfortable, spacious room. The staff generally were great (just a weird interaction when we checked in with an ill staff member, but this seemed to be the exception, not the norm). The hotel was a quick 10 minute walk to the beach and into a restaurant/bar area (using shortcuts), and not much further to some streets with plenty of shopping/massage/eating places. The hotel is not on the main drag, which was great if you were looking to get away from it all, however there is a bit of construction happening in the area with the noise being present every day from early morning - I think it would depend on where your room is in the hotel to dictate how much this would disturb you. Overall a nice stay for a quick trip.

This is a lovely hotel but in an area which is best suited for the surfie lifestyle. Very modern , beautiful rooms with great balconies. Pool area is awesome! Our stay wasnt so peaceful as building was going on next door with noisy powertools going all day! Our stay ended very poorly when they tried charging us twice for airport transfer! Manager of hotel was not helpful at all and actually laughed at our dilemma! Very unproffessinal! Basically called us liars saying we hadn't paid for transfer the prevous day! Had to cough up money again or wouldnt take us to airport! Made us so late for flighr! Very stressful day and first time i was glad to leave bali! Never ever ever booking with sense hotel again!

Construction hapoen next door at other property so relaxing by pool is hard to do. Still doing roon construction on top floor of our buildig... dragging furniture in the evening was very loud 2 floors down. During the night hallway noise echos into rooms, so if u have any loader guests they will wake you up. Nit alot of pool chairs avalible, so guests often fighting for spots. Floating chairs smell like meldew, could be cleaned. The rooms and the property its self is great though. English tv, great food near by... warung kenzie worth a visit.

The hotel was a little further than the main busy road and surfing beach so i was a bit bummed out about that till i walked into the room and it was worth it. They had this one new building and the older ones and so my room was in the new one. The whole design tiles bedding was to die for. Super clean super nice and modern. But then i had to extend my stay for another day and had to move to another room that was in the older building and that was not impressive. So yeah not sure if you can make a request for which building to get a room but if there is make sure its the new building. Pool is pretty cool. One thing i didn't like tho was the fact that staff tried to give me scooter for double the price just because i was in need of one and it was late and the place is a bit far. Aside from that great place. Oh and deffinatlly do not get the breakfast as it was very basic and its nice to go out to different brunch places in canggu.

Great place to relax
Great little hotel. It is a 5 min walk to the beach which is great for sunsets and watching the surfers. The pool is great for relaxing during the day or hanging out at the swim up bar. The hotel is a short walk from shopping and other restaurants, but is a great place to get away and just relax.

Nice hotel, with good pool facilities. Hotel room was very spacious although not cleaned very well both upon check in and during our stay. The food was okay, our booking included breakfast which after two days we ended up eating out for all our meals due to the lack of choice and sub-par quality. The most disappointing part of our stay was that it is not actually in Canggu and the road which shows on the map is closed and it is a 15-20minute scooter ride into the main part of Canggu. There isn’t very much within walking distance of the hotel. Unless you are planning on staying at the hotel for majority of your trip, we would suggest staying closer in to save time and money on transportation. Overall poor value for money and poor location.
