Hi Mattieu - It is difficult to respond to your review because you did not explain what the issues were. We did have some problems with the wifi connection and phones because of the flooding for which I apologise. I'm not sure what the low score for 'staff' relates to as apart from my housekeepers I am the only one here and I don't recall there being any problems during your 3 night stay - Brian

The rooms are dated, hot water was non existent in kitchen Lounge seating is low and very uncomfortable, needs arm chairs. Could not connect to streaming services on TV

Despite being quite comfortable there were a few problems with the advertising of the place. The property description suggested washing and drying machine with the apartment we found we had to pay fir drying in a separate area. This also needed coins that fortunately the door guy was able to give us. Despite offering “free wifi” we were only given 2 vouchers for 5 of us in 2 apartments.

All units have a washing machine in a 1 bedroom apartment or if booked as a 2 bedroom apartment the same . "Door guy" ? I am the manager of the complex and as I did not have change on hand gave you change out of my own pocket . The dryer is in guest laundry . Complimentary wifi is available for Free for one device per room unlimited .

We cancelled our stay in January. We were charged for this booking. They say we did not cancel. If we did not cancel, why did we get an email in January confirming this issue? Worst service ever!

John your being extremely hard here..... I am the manager of the Grosvenor Cairns I do remember speaking to you on several occasions and my housekeeping changed your towels as requested on a couple of occasions throughout the 5 night stay. Rooms serviced on the 7th day . We do also not operate a 24hr hotel reception . Had you wished for these I suggest you book the Hilton but be aware of the double prices. Regards Manager

Grosvenor in Carins
The premises are getting in need of renovation but still clean and satisfactory. The staff were very nice. Located close to many shopping facilities and a nearby tavern was quite handy. Only 2 blocks walk to the ocean.

A little bit far from the Esplanade when we didn't have a vehicle but could walk there. Plenty of food choices nearby. Didn't like the cockroach in the bed.

We had an activity packed holiday and needed a nice place to sleep eat and relax. Grosvenor was perfect for everything we needed, close to everything and we were able to wash clothes every night

We asked for 2 single beds and 1 queen , and got 2 double beds instead, meaning one of us had to sleep on the couch. The wifi was inconsistent and didn't connect well.

Hi - I do apologise. I have spoken to the staff member who received your booking and confirmed that he missed reading your request for 1 queen and two single beds. Perhaps if you had returned to reception soon after entering the apartment, he may have been able to rectify the situation. The WiFi works really well nearly all the time. We have received no other complaints recently about the WiFi ...... most of the time we find that where guests are having difficulty connecting the reason has something to do with their device/s. Once again I do apologise about the bed situation (luckily the couch is very comfortable) - Brian (Manager)

We rented a self contained apartment which was very clean and comfortable with good kitchen and plenty of space. We were up high and it was quiet. The negatives are that there is no lift and heavy bags need to be carried upstairs which was ok for us but not for older clients. There appears to be some full time residents in the building so it isn't just holiday letting. This makes for a different vibe.

I stayed there for a conference and then snorkeling trip for 5 nights. Me, my husband, and 2 friends stayed in an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was clean and efficient, and staff was friendly. It’s a very old styled motel/apartment, as it’s not serviced. They only changed towels once. 2 soaps are provided as amenities, that’s it. Their pool was small and not super clean. Above all was ok, doesn’t bother me much. However there were 2 big problems for me, it was too far from the centre and too hot. It was far from where everything was, so spent more money on Uber. It takes 40 min walk to the reef terminal, shopping centre, or anything. It looks close on the map but not. There are many restaurants nearby though, which is very good. Also it was not airconditioned well. There was only one air condition in the queen bedroom. Only ceiling fans in the other room and in the lounge/kitchen. It was not super hot season and cool down at night (end of October) so we survived. Not sure if it was cheap either. If it was cheap, I would have accepted the fact that you get what you pay, but it was not. Regardless Cairns is beautiful city with lots of activities to do, so it was ok.

I really enjoyed the place however the walls are paper thin. You can hear the echoes of people coming and going. I was afraid to turn my TV up to hear in case it was too loud and the guest next door would hear it. Overall enjoyed my stay and bed 😁 maybe needs more parking spaces for guests had to park my hire car on the street a few times.

Parking can be a problem in 'peak times' but there is plenty of parking right outside the complex. 95% of the time there is no problem with finding a park in the under-building car parks. The walls are actually concrete block ..... some guests are unfortunately just "noisy"- Brian

The reception were friendly and they had good recommendations for the Coral Reef tours. The room was big and comfortable but the cleanliness was average with many ants walking around. The location was great as it was close to restaurants/gym and bus stop.

We call them "ghost ants" because they are so small and appear from nowhere (particuarly when food is left out) ...... we are situated in the tropics after all. Studio unit was basic. Included microwave, kettle and tv etc. Also included a locked door to an adjacent occupied room. Listening to others conversations and snoring was not in the list of inclusions. Twenty minute walk to the centre of cairns, coles, woolworths. Reef terminal 5min more. Away from the bustle.

Yes, to a degree our Studios are 'basic' in that they are not a self contained apartment and as such they do not contain a kitchen, washing machine, separate lounge room etc etc ..... but guests know that when booking I would presume ..... they are also the cheapest accommodation to book - Brian

Disappointed by incorrect information
The Grosvenor is simply not very good. From the tired bed to the rusty shower, the towel rail hanging out of the wall, and general untidiness. The thing that I found particularly annoying was choosing this place as somewhere to relax after a challenging couple of days and watch a bit of tv on their “66 inch flat screen” - a lot closer to 6.6 than 66. I simply don’t see how this has achieved a 4/5 rating - maybe there are some nice rooms somewhere, but I certainly was not in one.

Hi Phong - unfortunately during the time you stayed with us we were 'booked out' and did not have another room to move you to. We did offer to help find you alternative accommodation as we were unable to obtain the services of an air-conditioning technician to fix the AC during the time of your stay...... but you did not want to investigate that aspect. I did (and do) apologise for any inconvenience caused by this situation

Its a nice location accessible to all sides, if you have a car they have ample parking space which helps, room sizes are good, daily needs things are all at walking distance

Average, but excellent service
Shower could've used a good scrub down, but it came with free gym access (full sized gym just down the street) which was important to my fiance. The room was standard, came with dishes, microwave, fridge.

You can rest assured that the showers in all of the rooms to be cleaned are 'scrubbed down', however some of the grout is discoulered and we are in the process of scraping and re-grouting them. Many of our guests find the 24/7 fitness centre a big bonus (even on holidays)....... and excellent service is always what we strive for - Brian and Staff

Dishwasher had sign saying "Out of order". Facilities listed as having washer / drier. Washer worked -albeit no wash powder provided but we had powder for dishwasher, which didn't. Only drier was a communal one for all rooms - as it had been raining all week,we needed somewhere to dry our clothes and had to race to get to the one drier before anybody else. DVD player in room didn't work, Reported to management twice but nothing done, not even an excuse or apology. Management needs to raise its customer care, then the facility would be great

Nice hotel walking distance to attractions
Great room. Walking distance to all tourist things, restaurants, port, beach etc. Good value for the money. Even kept our luggage for us when we went to the Reef for 4 days and then returned to the hotel for a couple of more days. Staff exceptionally helpful.

Yes, 3 story buildings in Cairns don't have to have lifts .... so developers don't put them in when they build the complexes....... but, we are always available to carry your luggage to your room if it is required.

Nice hotel, more of an apartment we had a 2 bed unit which has separate kitchen dinner and lounge area. well equipped. just out of the centre of cairns, so ideal if you have transport.

We have 3 types of accommodation ranging from a Studio (like a hotel room) through to 1 and 2 bedroom fully self contained apartments ..... so we are able to cater to a variety of guest accommodation requirements so I suppose the Grosvenor is best described as an apartment / hotel. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

Easy access from the airport and within walking distance of several places to eat, but not close to the downtown area of Cairns. Room was adequate, clean, and had a fridge and basic utensils to get by with for a short stay. Since we were arriving later than the check in hours we picked up our room key from a safe, which was quite convenient, however, the wi-fi access information was supposed to be with the key and it wasn't. We found out later that the information had been emailed to us at 2 am in the morning, which didn't do us much good.

Close to everything, clean and comfortable
Check in was easy with staff friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and safe. Several different restaurants very close and tons more eating options and shopping with 1 mile. Not much to do at site, but close to everything, and most activities will pick you up at your door step.

Great place in a convenient location
Our joining rooms had all the facilities and comfort we needed. We absolutely loved the pool and gardens and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The location was great with a supermarket and many eateries just across the road.

great hotel
my husband and i stayed for 7 days we had a fantastic time .the room was good,there is room service everyday if needed. the swimming pool was clean and very rewarding after a busy day of activities. the staff are so friendly even the permanent residents. i would truly recommend staying here most of all Linda the receptionist was so helpful and went out of her way to make you feel welcome, comfortable and did an outstanding job. the owner was very nice even though we didnt have a lot to do with as he was very busy .
