"Excellent hotel!"
Stayed here in April 2016 with my partner in a loft suite. It was very clean, comfortable and spacious. A wide range of snacks were provided, as well as complimentary tea and coffee, with a proper coffee machine and takeaway cups. The level of attention to detail with the decor in the room and hotel was very high, with some really impressive artwork throughout. The hotel staff were absolutely brilliant, very welcoming and helpful, and went out of their way to make out stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is a little out of the way but we found it very easy to get around. The hotel also provides what is described as a shuttle service, but was essentially a chauffeur service to some nearby stations, with high-end cars and informative, friendly drivers. Overall I would 100% absolutely, definitely recommend this hotel!!

"It's the little touches that make it special"
As the taxi drove down the street I was beginning to wonder if I'd made a mistake booking the Box House Hotel - there was construction everywhere! But then we saw our hotel, a little oasis in amongst it all, and that was before we even walked through the doors. This is a hotel that has made an effort to be different. There are antiques, quirky objects and works of art, funky colours etc all of which gave us a bit of a wow moment when we walked into the foyer. There is nothing generic about this hotel and it made us smile after so many boring hotels and motels on our trip around America. Best of all, all those colours, quirks and artwork extend to the rooms as well, which are unique, warm and welcoming. The staff were fantastic, super helpful, even offering to hold our bags for us prior to check in and after check out without us having to ask! And they know their stuff - great advice on subway routes, the best way to get into Manhattan etc and plenty of other helpful tips. But it's the little extra touches that really make this hotel stand out. The water carafe in the foyer, filled with ice and fresh lime, which you can help yourself to any time of the day. The free taxi that will drop you off within a one mile radius - perfect for getting to the subway station and water taxi. The Box House Hotel makes you feel really looked after and that's quite rare these days.

"Located well"
this hotel was located well for us. We prepaid our room with Expedia but didn't get the room we paid for. After a fairly long wait, we were moved to a king size room. But after that, everything was just fine. This hotel isn't luxurious but it is fine for a visit to Brooklyn. The only thing we missed was a chair that was comfortable.

"Beyond all expectations"
The best thing about the hotel is its proximity to a subway stop. I found myself going into the city twice a day because of that. It's too easy to go out early, come back midday and then go back out in the afternoon or evening. Even if I don't leave the area, there's plenty of food options within walking distance as well as a grocery store next door. I stayed in 1007 which was a Manhattan-facing room I requested prior to check-in. If I had a bad thing to say about the room was that it was mentally difficult to close the curtains at night because the view was very beautiful. For nights I couldn't go out, it was great to see at night. Breakfast was okay. It kept me from being hungry during the train ride into the city. There were several options, but the flavor wasn't fantastic. But for free, no complaints. My queen room was tiny. Please keep that in mind if you're buying any highly-fragranced gifts. I bought some and immediately had to run to the post office to ship them off because the scent overpowered the room no matter what I did. I was travelling solo so the small room didn't matter. Couples may find this room to be cramped especially if they're not used to being up on one another. I also would not try to cram a kid in that type of room. The staff was exceptional. If you have troubles, ask them and they'll likely have a solution to your troubles. Just try it. My room always stayed pleasant and air conditioning was good.
