4/5 Good

Quick weekend away
Clean, could use updating, lots of rain and water comes through the lower level walls, needs updated pots and pans (falling apart)

2/5 Poor

Enjoyed our stay, would not rent again.
We had a good time while we were there.... Pro's: plenty of room, all utensils needed for cooking, very close to ski resort, excellent view, huge porches, comfy beds. Con's: outdated, clean but not deep clean, basic cable with no kids channels except pbs unless you use the smart tv in the living room, even though you have to pay cleaning fee..you are required to take out all your trash and strip your linens. I have stayed at outdated homeaway rentals before, but they were priced as such. This is our 5th homeaway rental and the first less than 5 star review I have left. Why I would not rent again: The hot tub gave my husband and I a bacterial infection which causes flu like symptoms and we both have swollen very sore lumps of bacterial growth under our skin. It is supposed to be benign and clear up on it's own within two weeks. I am alternating between Tylenol and Advil for fever and pain. It's caused from long periods of soaking in a hot tub that is not properly chlorinated which allows certain bacteria to thrive. How the homeowner/property manage could fix: Make sure maintenance is important (all lights working, proper maintenance on hot tub (I rented this place because of the hot tub), Spend the cleaning fee on a reputable cleaning company, invest in more t.v.s and better cable (this rental is aimed at families).

2/5 Poor

Slightly disappointed
One of the main reasons we chose this house to rent in January 2018 was because of the advertised indoor hot-tub. Well it was there, but we arrived and found it half full of water and unusable. Filter was very dirty and it was obvious that the chemicals had been ignored for a long time. So, no hot-tubbing after ski days for us. Otherwise the kitchen was newly remodeled, rest of the house needs it next. Some uneven floors in the house. All bathrooms are dated, some had broken knobs etc. And the heating system needs updating. We found the house set at 55 degrees, immediately set the temp up to 75. By the morning it had only risen to 69. And for the rest of the weekend it only got up to 72 max....which was fine. Driveway is very steep, thank goodness we had chains for our Jeep - they are essential for this house in snow/ice - be prepared. Overall, I would choose another place to stay next time.

3/5 Okay

Good enough
It’s a nice home and definitely worth renting, especially being so close to Beech Mountain. It’s warm, clean, and cozy. That said, the indoor hot tub, which was one of the features that caused us to rent this house, never got past 88 luke warm degrees, so we never used it. There weren’t any instructions for its usage, so we just resigned ourselves to not using it, even after a hard day on the slopes. Also, though it has a nice fireplace, be sure to bring your own firewood because it’s not provided. It is also up a steep driveway, so if you come after a snowfall, you need snowchains or 4 wheel drive to make it up. We had to park at the bottom and carry all our luggage up the steep driveway. Still, it is a nice place with a great view and location at an attractive price.
Stayed 3 nights in Jan 2018

4/5 Good

Amazing views
This is a classic mid century round house on Beech Mountain. The kitchen is brand new and completely stocked with everything you need to cook meals: all new items. We loved the view and the local contact for help was quick and responsive. The cabin desperately needs a new couch and seating for more than four in the living room area, and new mattresses. Overall, a great place to stay.
