Driftwood is a classic beach house near Washerwomans Beach

The house looks like just another retro beach weekender from the front but step inside and a spacious, relaxing modern home awaits.

Driftwood is walking distance to many idyllic beaches.

The nearest is the family-friendly Washerwoman's Beach which is such a great learn-to-surf beach that former World Champ Pam Burridge often runs lessons there.

The well known surf break at Back beach aka Inyadda, and boat ramp are also walking distance or a short drive for those wanting to conserve energy for surfing or fishing.

A 5 minute drive will take you to the legendary Green Island surf break and Cunjurong Point at the entrance to Lake Conjola where the kids and adults will enjoy the tranquil waters.

Wildlife abounds with kangaroos often visiting the backyard. There are rainbow lorikeets and king parrots in the trees, a bower bird hideout nearby and you can watch the stingrays hanging out at the boat ramp.

The house sleeps 7 in 3 bedrooms - a mini parent's retreat Queen bedroom with en suite, a second bedroom with Queen bed and third bedroom with a single and a tribunk.

Linen provided for bookings made from the 15.4.24.

Driftwood's two living areas ensure there's space for everyone and the large backyard is the perfect place for a long lazy lunch or for the kids to run around and do some exploring.

There is also an outdoor shower in a tropical setting complete with hot water!

Gas bbq on deck with a spare full gas bottle in the gated area under the house on the western side.

Bendalong itself is a charming hamlet of traditional weekenders with a general store that sells everything from petrol to beer.

There is also Bendalong cafe which serves up traditional coastal take-away fare - the hot chips are delicious. Driftwood is walking distance to both the local General Store and cafe.

Bendalong is a 3 hour drive from Sydney with the drive improving all the time as the Princes Highway gets upgraded.

A scenic 25 minute drive away is the charming village of Milton which is has some interesting stores - a special treat is the Revival furniture store and the old-time toy shop but there are plenty of other great stores.

Ulladulla is just past Milton where you will find traditional shopping including supermarkets, Target and Bunnings. There is also a cinema and other activities if you are looking for a change of pace from the beach - or an escape from bad weather.

Our family enjoys Funland which is an 1980s style video and fun arcade with reasonable prices and Tenpin bowling.

On the coast between Ulladulla and Milton is Mollymook which is best known for its beach (including South Mollymook patrolled beach). It also has some great restaurants including the renowned Rick Stein's at Bannisters.

Mollymook has a choice of Golf Courses with a coast-hugging 9 hole course and the Hilltop 18 hole championship course.

Pigeon House Mountain is a bit further afield for the more adventurous - it is a tough but rewarding hike with spectacular views of the coast.

A 30-40 minute drive north takes you to Jervis Bay where there are dolphin and whale tours, the world famous Hyams Beach and the Greenpatch picnic area (albeit we far prefer the local beaches).

Tropical gardens paradise
Rented for a week during the summer holidays. We were 5, an adult and 4 teens. Property is well appointed and if you’re into cooking you’ll have all ustensiles. The gardens are great. There is a barbecue well lighted if cooking in the evening. External shower is great to limit sand in the property. House is close to both washerwoman and back beach as well as the small coffee shop and local convenience store. Beds are comfy, and the games cupboard is unbeatable in case of wet weather. Highly recommend.
