Positives:
Good location in the heart of Hamra.
Clean enough.
Nice reception/bar/waiting area downstairs.
Very friendly staff - special thanks to Shady from the reception for helping me out with various things (Wi-Fi, SIM card exchange etc.) and for being a great chat.
Reliable aircon.
Fruit bowl on arrival was a nice touch. Complimentary water bottles were appreciated.
Negatives:
The internet was very poor, even when I could connect to it easily the connection was slow. Other times the router would just turn itself off and I had to call reception to come and fix it - sometimes they would sort it out and other times not.
Very thick pillows, unusable for sleep. They had a small decorative square pillow which I used to rest my head on. I’ve later found out that the big pillows are called body pillows - definitely not for the head.
The toilet bowl had a crack in it.
The stove in the kitchenette was not working. The fridge light was not working.
Poor water pressure in the shower. The bathtub was small, unusable for anyone of above average height.
Walls quite thin, could hear other customers when they were chatting in the hallway.
I was quoted $10 for the airport shuttle. With official exchange rate that meant 15000 LBP. I was then asked to pay 80000 LBP or 10 USD (black market rate was 10000 LBP/$1 anyway, and why would a hotel use a black market rate?!) - not nice. The car was very beaten up, it smelled of diesel engine check light on.
