This hotel is in a great location in the Born neighborhood. Easy walk to metro, bus and train. Next to a great park. Lots of stores and restaurants within minutes of walking. I did not get breakfast included but paid €16 for breakfast about 3 days. The breakfast was ok but not worth that price as it had limited options and you can easily have breakfast at a nearby hotel for lower cost. There's a great cafe right next to the hotel. The bar staff in the lounge was great. I brought a bottle of wine to them to have them open it and they gave me a bottle opener and glasses to bring to my room. That allowed me to enjoy several bottles of wine in my room during my stay. Front desk staff was also helpful assisting me with questions about how to use transportation to Sitges. Great views on the 7th floor. At night it can be a little noisy but considering it's in a city that should be expected.

It took me an age to pick a hotel in central Barcelona with so many on offer and having no prior experience of the different districts. So glad I picked hotel Rec. In my opinion el Born was the perfect area to stay for exploring the city. The area is absolutely beautiful with multiple dining options. The hotel itself was modern, clean and had a lovely roof terrace to relax and the end of a busy day. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the walking tour of el Born provided by the hotel. It's located right next to cituadella park and is only a 25 min walk to the beach and las ramblas. The tube station and open top bus stop is less than 5mins away for exploring the city further afield.

Unfortunately when we arrived I was told that there were no rooms with double beds available despite the fact that I had specifically requested this. This was a celebratory trip for my partners birthday, and they did not do anything to make it special but I feel that the least they could do would be to meet my request for a double bed. On top of that, the room was nice but I felt let down by the balcony, not only was there no view or separation from the neighbouring balconies, there were no chairs or loungers to enjoy the balcony, and smoking was not permitted, so I don’t really understand the purpose of the balconies? Furthermore, the pool was not available for use, which we felt was a massive let down as we spent a lot more money on this hotel as opposed to a simple cheaper hotel, primarily for the pool. Yet the worst part is, I noticed several silver fish on the bathroom floor. Just not good enough for the price unfortunately and I wish it could have been more special for my partner.

The whole region need the remaining water for necessary things, and the Government itself does not allow us to spend it on the pools, as there's much important things that requiere waterClosing the pool it's not a decision or a choice for the hotel, it comes directly from the GovernmentWe do apologize if we didn't reached your expectations, but there's certain things that are out of our controlBest Regards

This was such a unique place to stay, and within walking distance of a beautiful park and the city zoo. It was also walking distance from explore catalunya, which is where we booked a tour. We loved the restaurant on the top floor that allowed us a beautiful view as we ate breakfast. It was so beautiful and modern for the price. This is also in a district with about a million food options within walking distance. If we ever go back to Barcelona I would not hesitate to book here again.

The hotel is in a lovely area, really convenient and great bars and restaurants nearby. The majority of the staff at the hotel are lovely, very kind. Sadly the person who checked me in wasn’t very welcoming, didn’t really explain much to me but I overheard the other receptionist explaining it all to another guest. The rooms are a bit worn. It’s a polished concrete floor but the skirting was a bit rotten, as was a bit around the door. I noticed a few ants every day crawling around. It wasn’t off putting, you can’t help insects, but they were coming in and out from the wall where there were gaps. Breakfast was €16 each a day. I had it once and the selection was okay but nothing special. The view from here is lovely, and it’s meant to have a swimming pool, but due to government policy, it’s closed. The bed in the room was absolutely huge and very comfortable, with plenty of pillows. The room has a strange feature where the shower can be seen from the bedroom, but if you don’t like it, you can push the mirror (which is on rails) from the bathroom to cover it to give you some privacy from whoever you’re sharing with. Sadly, the mirror was very difficult to push when I tried and I couldn’t. The room is advertised as soundproof, yet it’s really not. You can hear the toilet from above, and noise The curtains are blackout, but don’t go to the edge of the wall so you’re woken up by sunlight. Would stay again, great location and room is very good for the price.

Not sure how this hotel has such good reviews. The one good thing is its location; about 25-30mins walk to everything and trains nearby. Now for the bad: NOT soundproof in the slightest; heard everything from the noise outside to the plumbing when someone flushed the toilet or took a shower. The floor was covered in hair when we arrived and 3 pillows had stains on them. The one day we got breakfast, we assumed housekeeping would take the tray when they cleaned the room, but nope 10 hours later, the half eaten food was still there. We also ran out of toilet paper and they never restocked. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for the price per night.

A nice place to stay, very close proximity to metro and best bits of Barcelona. Staff on reception very nice. Cleaners were pretty rude, and didn't do a great job. They also left wet and dirty towels and tissues in my room after cleaning which wasn't great.

Good hotel, great location rooms very well designed. Only gripe was when departing I asked front desk for a taxi to the airport was told no chance because of the marathon and was informed to get a bus. A google search and 15mins later I was in a taxi to the airport.

I loved this hotel my room was big the bed was extremely comfortable I not sure on the soundproofing as could hear my neighbour. I loved the bluetooth speaker in the room which is a great touch. The shower has to be one of the best showers I’ve had in any hotel. Also like the sweets as you enter the hotel a great touch

Great location! The hop on hop off buses stop number 2 is very close to the hotel. The streets of the gothic quarter are on your doorstep, great for souvenirs and buying bits and pieces. Tube station is 4 mins away. I’d happily stay here again. Breakfast was very good too.

As a solo traveler, I was feeling safe at anytime of day or night. Location is perfect for walking to the beach, attractions. Hotel room was small but comfortable, no carpet flooring so better hygiene. Breakfast was good for $16, I enjoyed relaxing on the deck and lounge area.

Very quiet hotel, we slept very well. The room is quite small, but modern and clean. The bed was a king, which was a nice surprise! There's no fridge in the room which was the only thing missing. The terrasse is very nice, the staff is helpful. We can walk everywhere from that location and it was extremely easy to find food around, restaurants and convenient stores.

I loved their unique modern style. It is chick, modern, innovative, safe, safe, safe. Look no more. In the future and if lucky enough to find it available, I will stay here again. I got to experience the locals way of leaving within few steps of the hotel. The terrace is just wonderful!

Hi! Really liked this hotel for the location, friendly and helpful staff and location, location, location - also the room size! Few things I’d note which is really just a matter of preference. The beds are two twin beds pushed together - and they do not stay together very well. The hairdryer is small and meant for a quick short hair dry for very manageable hair - the fuse went out often - so if you need a good hairdryer bring your own. There is no room service - so if you need ice or waters have euros to get from machine or put in the neighborhood. The hotel is cool because it is eco friendly and functions that way. Very minimalistic. And the floor is no carpet. I’d recommend this hotel for the price, location and cleanliness. If you like the fun extras that hotels have this does not offer.

This is an ideal property for couples. However for two guys the room was not practical at all. Firstly they gave a King size bed and then the bathrooms had transparent glass overlooking the bed. The door was transparent as well. The sink did not have a back splash and it was right next to the bed!! The hotel is in a very walkable and commutable place bang across the Arc di Triomphe. You can walk to the Ramblas within 15 min. Dotted with excellent restaurants. The rooftop bar was amazing and the views at night were worth it!! The staff were polite. To cover the bathroom door we used a bedsheet.

The hotel is unique, staff is friendly, the area is walkable to a lot of places of interest such as Picasso Museum, Gothic Quarter, Natural History Museum, Arch of Triumph, a lot of restaurants/ cafes and parks. They even let us drop the bags early in the morning, they have lockers, so we could walk around the city before check-in. Also, they have a beautiful terrace on the seventh floor where you can have breakfast and dinner, relax, watch TV, or enjoy the city view. We had a dinner ( food was good) and listened to live music.

REC is Awesome

I have stayed around a lot of places in both North America and Europe throughout the years, and the level of customer service we received here at Hotel REC has been unmatched. From the moment we arrived, Genis was so accommodating and welcoming. The manager, Param, went above and beyond to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The location was great, the rooms were spacious and clean and breakfast (and the staff) was wonderful. My only complaint was it wish it was family friendly so I can come visit again with my son, because he would love it too. Our stay made here made our trip to this beautiful city even more enjoyable.
