Hotel Tugu was an amazing introduction to our stay in Bali. The room with both the private pool and outdoor shower were serene. Traditional Bali artwork took you back in time. Staff was welcoming and charming. This hotel was a world away amidst the bustling part of Canggu.

Hotel Tugu exceed our expectations in every way. It was perfect. The staff was top notch. The service was excellent. Room was amazing and the hotel was one of a kind. Grounds were beautiful. Food was delicious. We truly hated to leave. If you have the opportunity to stay here, do it and you won’t regret it. Sending love to the staff for a perfect visit.

This is a fabulous’old style’ hotel spread over several acres. Nice pool area and the lobby is gorgeous in itself. The bathrooms have to be seen to be believed. A must do is dinner on the roof overlooking the sunset

Property has a real and significant problem with noise pollution from nearby bar/nightclubs. Old and tired, badly needs a refurbishment. Extremely poor value for money.

Superb hotel
Possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The room and our private pool was ideal and the service from the staff was incredible .loved afternoon tea and the sushi at Ji restaurant on the rooftop was gorgeous. Breakfast in the lotus garden was another highlight also Lovely views at breakfast watching the surfers from the rooftop Ji restaurant Would love to go back.

This was one of the most interesting places we've stayed at. There were all kinds of amazing little rooms and corners in the hotel. Some things needed uodating like plumbing but it was an extremely beautiful Balinese style hotel. The food was also delicious! The Japanese food on the stunning rooftop terrace was delicious as well as the Balinese restaurant downstairs. The biggest feature of the hotel are the outstanding staff! They were the most gentle, kind and helpful team we've ever encountered. We hope they are compensated in accordance to their priceless value as staff. Thank you again for making our stay so very special.

I love Hotel Tugu
Hotel Tugu was my very favorite during my 3 week Bali trip. Everything about it was exceptional & I plan to recommend it to anyone headed to Canggu. I also plan to stay there again during my next trip.

This is a unique property with the museum like artifacts all over the property. Very picturesque and unique rooms - an experience not to be missed! Floors could do with upgrading in the rooms. Pillows smell a little musty but it is a special place and so convenient for surfing and walkable to stores/spa. I was disappointed there was no cultural show, there was no yoga or spa available when I was there and only one restaurant open but I was still glad to have stayed.

This hotel is super beautiful, clean, quiet, peaceful & safe. You can spend whole day just staying enjoying the hotel facility from inside the room to their pool, lobby, 1st, 2nd, 3rd floor dining area. This place is huge with decoration details to the maximum of Bali classic, very exciting for photography. The surrounding is very clean, quiet, safe & beautiful. The location is very strategic, close to restaurants, money changers, shops, 2 minutes walk to the beautiful beach. The beach is nice for surfers with surf rentals and lessons available. Above all, the hotel staff service is far beyond expectation. The staff are always ready to serve you and help you with everything you need 24 hrs. Highly recommended for staying at this hotel. Real 5-star place.

Felt like home with a Balinese touch
Our stay at Tugu was lovely. We booked for a night to celebrate our anniversary and realized that bringing a toddler would be crazy at a place renowned for antiques! The staff were so kind to our little boy and made us feel at home. The massage I had was so relaxing and the high tea and brekkie were delicious. We had dinner at Ji as well and the food was incredible. Although the hotel was quite quiet, the condition of the room and grounds were kept up to a high standard. Please stay at this place as the staff will take care of you and you'll get a glimpse of Balinese and Indonesian culture.

Cool unique place but avoid during the pandemic
The accommodations were pretty and cool. The service was great in some areas but lacking in others. The breakfast service was excellent. The areas that lacked was the Balinese greeting hospitality and enforcement of covid safety precautions. A lot of patrons and some of the staff didn't properly put on a mask. The whole area of Canggu was really bad in terms of covid safety precautions also.

A Gem in Canggu
We enjoyed our stay at Tugu Bali very much. The location and facilities were excellent. We unfortunately had a medical emergency during our stay. The hotel manager as well as her staff were amazing in helping and accommodating us during the remainder of our stay. I cant say enough about the attention and service. Thank you !!!

Although it is in a busy area, the property feels like its own oasis. The staff and amenities are incredible. The villas, views, restaurants and pool are meticulously crafted and luxurious. The entire staff makes you feel welcome. It is conveniently located in a central area with an easy walk or short ride to many places in Canggu.

Wonderful experience. We stayed in the Walter Spies Pavillion......an amazing suite. We could eat breakfast anywhere in the hotel, at any time. Breakfast was our favorite meal. The Japanese restaurants was great for dinner. Overall, the service was outstanding. Loved it here.

An early 1700s palace reinvented as a small hotel in the 1990s. Beautifully authentic. Close to highly rated restaurants and walkable to local shops. Hotel filtered coffee was good and I’m a fussy strong flat white advocate. The cooking class was expensive but the market visit was insightful and the food we cooked lasted thru two meals. Breakfast was a la carte and the staff unbelievably attentive. The pool was smallish but pretty in dark blue. The beach is easily accessed. You can swim at low tide but it’s not exactly clean. Great for watching the surf. OxeN views from my room were lovely - thru the Lilly pond.

Tugu has it ALL
Hotel Tugu was a dream! The resort's grounds were absolutely beautiful with lush greenery surrounding you in every corner. The bathroom was to die for -- big comfy bathtub/shower with all the amenities & more provided. The location is superb -- literally right next door to Canggu's hottest restaurant/bar, The Lawn and the beach is basically in the backyard! Nice breakfast selections & they allow you to choose where you'd like to eat anywhere on the grounds. There are SO many unique spots to have an intimate breakfast -- I recommend up at the top of their Ji Restuarant in a private cabana overlooking the ocean with surfers with incredible sunrises & sunsets. Definitely participate in their dining experiences - so special & unique! We ate fresh fish caught that day & watched many traditional Balinese dances/music performed. I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Amazing Balinese Experience
Service was second to none and staff were happy to help whenever asked. Felt very personal as staff recognised us and very warm. Restaurant options very good in-house and the breakfast at whatever time you liked was superb. Room was traditional style so if you are after sleek, modern hotel this may not be your cup of tea. However if you are looking for an intimate Balinese boutique then Tugu is for you. Location super handy to the beach and restaurants/bars/cafes in Canggu. Pool in the room was great as was the main pool. Beach a minute away.

Rustic yet elegant with a great location
Had a lovely but brief stay at Tugu. The property is steps from the beach which is great for surfing, lounging, or beach fun. The property is beautiful, with a variety of places to sit, relax, and enjoy meals. The menus are wide ranging but the breakfast service was slightly inconsistent. Room bathroom was lovely. Rustic and charming and elegant all at once.

This is a beautiful old hotel. We stayed in a Dedari suite, which had a very nice private pool. The hotel suffers from serious noise issues most nights of the week, often until 4am, so it is unfortunately difficult to recommend and I would not stay here again. Breakfast, drinks and Indonesian food at the regular restaurant were all good (I would not recommend the the rooftop Japanese restaurant.) Local staff were welcoming, but overall rather disorganised and the hotel gives the impression of being poorly managed.

A beautiful hotel BUT only if you don’t like sleeping / an insomniac. It really is a nice hotel, great location close to beach, one of the best rooms I have had, lovely breakfasts but really ... REALLY.... music/bass/beats until 3:30 - 4am in the morning. Quite (A LOT) disturbing. A few others have given 1 STAR because of this as well - I can’t believe more don’t. You can have everything right but noise you can’t avoid till 3-4am (every night) is just not acceptable. Sorry - maybe PLEASE invest in serious soundproofing on all rooms. Then I’ll come back 100% and give a 5 STAR review!! Paid $400++ per night over two nights and seriously not worth it.... sorry I don’t mind noise until 1-2am ... but feel exhausted after staying there in what was supposed to be my last two chilled out luxury nights in Bali. So tired!! Note: I did notice ear plugs next to bed on first arrival - sorry they didn’t help and if you are going to charge those prices then ear plugs next to bed IS NOT the solution!!

Old world, relaxing stay
Room felt very spacious with king size bed and single put in for our son. Lots of lovely welcoming touches, with flowers and notes left around and best toiletries selection even including mozzie lotion. Loved the old world bathroom however drains were very slow to empty so didn't feel comfortable having bath. Showers were great though with windows open overlooking our own personal koi pool it all felt very decadent. Breakfasts were wonderful and we chose to eat ours every morning overlooking the amazing beach views from the 3rd floor. Meal in Japanese restaurant very overpriced and average quality and unfortunately being asked quite rudely to move off the table they had let us sit on originally for a bigger group of walk in customers put a dampener on the evening. On a more positive note watching the dancers and dining in the Indonesian restaurant the following evening was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and the food was delicious.

The worst stay ever in a 5 star hotel
despite the fact that the hotel is beautiful and the staff amazing, the hotel is located right next to clubs and bar. So, if you are looking for tranquillity, forget it. You won’t be able to sleep until 3am in the morning.

A wonderful experience
As soon as we arrived at hotel Tugu we knew it would be a special experience. A true Balinese palace full of beautiful Indonesian antiques. We felt like we had dropped into a 1930s movie set in our giant antique four poster with its feather pillows and thick linen. Then on our covered balcony was the sunken round tin bath complete with flowers floating and a view of the ocean. The staff always smiling and keen to help. We ate at the Japanese restaurant watching the sun over the sea. The grounds are beautiful and exotic and the pool refreshing. We worried the young children might be a nuisance in such an elegant place but the staff welcomed them. A noisy local bar (Friday only) is nearby but the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs. Highly recommended.

Truly unique experience
The hotel feels like a dreamy tropical experience but it has all of the modern conveniences cleverly built in. Overall we had a great time but the location itself provided a few headaches. It took awhile to figure out grab drivers were afraid to do pickups because of local resistance so transportation could be a bit of an issue. However, the hotel does have a driver they can call and that makes it much easier. I wish we would have known about that from the start.
