HOME RUN is a large, kid and pet-friendly ski chalet 99 ski strides from the mountain's final ' Home Run' back to the village; trulyb, a pristine ski-in and ski-out environment. It stays pristine because vehicles cannot reach the homes above the village as we are snowed in for most of the winter. (A SUNSET magazine article described Bear Valley as the holder of the one month US snowfall record-37 feet!)

Therefore, alternative transportation such as a snowmobile ( taxi and rentals @ Bear Valley Snowmobile (209-753-2323 ) can be provided. You can walk, snowshoe and ski everywhere-we're just a mile from the lodge. Don't worry, this only adds to the adventure and kids love it.

This newly updated home is perfect for two families. The upstairs bedroom has a new queen bed and the loft has a fold-out couch .This floor is situated so that it enjoys spectacular morning color. The first floor bedroom has a new ish king bed and attached tile bath with radiant heat. There is also a 12’ circular couch if needed. The dining table seats ten. There is no television service at HOME RUN, but there is a new SMART TV programmable through your phone with NETFLIX, et al , a piano, a fireplace, a nice view and more stars than you've ever seen. It is in one of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC's International Dark Spots (AUG '22)

Many of our guests prefer the warmer seasons-colorful SPRING wildflowers on the creek, the golden aspens of AUTUMN and the splendor of a perfect BV SUMMER especially during our annual Music Festival. We are just a 5 minute WALK to the LAKE. After a full day of activities perhaps enjoy a local fine wine in the private all-season hot tub. It is on 1300 square feet of new decking and provides the setting for a stunning alpenglow experience.

Those who love Bear Valley for its solitude also appreciate the ease of the journey. There are no mountain passes to traverse hence no avalanche closures. Just straight up uncrowded Hwy. 4 from Murphys through the foothill's wine country. Only 30 snow miles-4,000-8,000' -to the summit near Ebbetts Pass. This wide US SCENIC BYWAY , HWY 4 (only 7 in nCA) is always open with two Cal- Trans stations in the half hour drive. This is the closest ski resort to the Bay Area and definitely the easiest route to travel.
The summer presents an even more magnificent approach from the east, if you are so inclined. If you have never exited Yosemite or Tahoe and come to BV over Monitor and Ebbetts Passes...well, do it.

Feel free to stop at Val du Vino winery in Murphys and receive our discount.

*** Please open the attached US SCENIC EBBETTS PASS BYWAY link if you have further interest in this extraordinary wilderness area ***

This is a tight, cozy ski chalet on a ridge above Bear Valley Village and as Lloyd Bridges once said in a TV piece..'Bear Valley is the hidden treasure of the Sierra."
**** Seasonal and week long discounts are available.

A little slice of heaven!
This was our 3rd stay at this property and we still pinch ourselves every time we are here! Its such a special spot, very cozy and has everything we need (we especially love snow play followed by relaxing in the hot tub!) The property manager Bob was very responsive to all our questions and very kind. We can't recommend this property enough!

Winter Wonderland
We had a wonderful stay at Terry’s house. It’s a beautiful house set up higher in the neighborhood and very peaceful, with stunning views. House was well stocked with towels, paper goods, firewood, games, cooking spices & oil, working appliances and great heating. Both beds were bad back friendly too. We arrived after a big snowstorm, so Bob the property manager, had lots of snow removal to do before we showed. Unfortunately, the house was not completely cleaned when we arrived which was a bummer, but cleaning supplies were readily on hand, so we helped vacuum, wipe down surfaces and clean the upstairs bathroom. We noticed some info discrepancies from what VRBO sent, regarding WiFi password and lock box code. Bob had all the info, so it wasn’t an issue, but maybe something to look into. Also number of bed descriptions could likely get updated too. The couch does not fold out into a bed downstairs. It’s a gorgeous and comfortable couch now with two automatic recliners. We enjoyed watching movies on this fancy couch. My kiddo wants to come back every weekend, to ski, sled, snowball fight, hot tub and play in the snow. We’d absolutely come every weekend if we could. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and this special refuge in nature with us.

Great winter stay
We had a lovely winter stay at the cabin in Bear Valley. Some days we went skiing, but also had a nice time staying inside and sledding near the house (and enjoying the hot tub). We would definitely come back.
