Tired, run down and tatty. Nice staff and quite cheap, but overpriced for the condition of the room and facilities. Campsites are better. But it is central to Alex.

Its a great property, staff seemed flustered at checkin and rushed through it. Didn't get all the info on the room. Everything else was great, especially the bar and restaurant staff

Historic hotel being bought into the 21st century. Shared bathroom a little far from the room. Could have had more bedding and so would have needed less ac. Roast vegetables for dinner were very under cooked, but veg parma was good. Pleasant, helpful staff

Comfortable refurbished room. Had air con and TV. All we needed for a night. Only 1 toilet upstairs but never had to wait and can go downstairs for more toilets as well. Lovely to sit on the balcony. Thanks for a nice stay.

Don t miss on this place!!!! The lady at the front desk welcomes you with a wonderful smile, takes the time to show you the room, the facilities ! The staff in the restaurant is super friendly and the quality of the food excellent!!!!

Basic hotel room in an historic pub. Room was clean and had a TV and split A/C. Shared bathroom facilities. Simple do it yourself breakfast. Friendly staff. Dinner in the lounge below was very good and one of the few options available on a Tuesday night in town.

Nothing flash but does the job well
Basic accommodation but serviceable. Main issue is lack of ensuite and very basic bathroom (single toilet, single shower for 8-10 rooms). Noisy but it is a pub so not a surprise. Breakfast basic but quite adequate. Good value for money if you know what to expect. Really helpful staff and the pub itself is excellent (food, ambience, location etc)

Need to offer small bottles of water and also have fridge turn on prior to guest arrival at very least.. no hand towels in bathroom so had to use shower towels.

This is a really old traditional pub hotel and its like stepping back in time but with all modern conveniences. Chris, the manager booked me in, explained how the hotel worked with meals etc and showed me to my room. That I have not seen for a long time. He asked if I was dining in house that night and then booked me a table in the restaurant. Overall a very pleasing visit.

Staff were lovely, food at restaurant was very good. Breakfast was disappointing, self catered ( which I don’t mind) but supply were so depleted, very little milk, NO butter or orange juice, barely enough milk. Nobody there to clean the used dishes ( although guests should do that themselves.. how hard is it to take your dirty dishes from the table?) The hotel is old, and could use some maintenance, window sills rotting etc, toilet seat broken, with lid on the floor next to the vanity. Creaking floorboards we’re part of the charm! Our room was very large, one of only a couple with ensuites.

We stayed in a queen room with a shared bathroom, I had absolutely no expectations. To my surprise the room was very clean, warm and exceeded my expectations for a pub. Chris checked us in, he is a real asset to the hotel. In fact, you couldnt have nicer staff, they were all very helpful and seemed to really enjoy their job looking after people. The shared bathroom was no problem at all, very clean and only a few doors away. We had dinner at the restaurant which was an excellent meal. Overall we would stay there again and definately eat at the restaurant. Thank you Chris for a very enjoya le stay, unfortunately they were booked out otherwise we would have stayed an extra night. 10 out of 10 for the staff and food 👍

Generally disappointing. Understand it’s an old property, but not very clean, blood in mattress, shared bathroom very poor and provided breakfast nothing short of a joke. The young lady serving us in the bistro was lovely and the beer garden was nice. Would not recommend or return.

Was nice to be able to sit out on the balcony and have a few drinks that we had to get from the bottle shop as the bar and restaurant were closed Tuesday and Wednesday nights. While we were sitting on the seating out the front having our dinnerquite a few people came along to try to get into the pub for dinner.
