Australian travelers en route to picking up their Miami car hire will likely have an easier time getting there from now on, as Miami International Airport is preparing to expand.
Sixteen gates were recently renovated at MIA's North Terminal, according to Travel News Daily. The gates are numbers D-1 to D-19 and part of the former Concourse A, which is now considered an extension of Concourse D.
In addition, a new security checkpoint was opened at the North Terminal, which will likely speed up the long lines that are typically associated with air travel, particularly the international variety.
Next up for the popular airport is the completion of the North Terminal SkyTrain, which is expected to occur in September. This rooftop people mover will transport people from one end of the mile-long terminal to the other in just a few minutes, reports the news source.
Once travelers are in Miami and have their rental car, there will be many things to do such as experiencing the city’s beautiful beaches, vibrant culture and exciting nightlife. Visitors to Miami late in the year may want to check out the city’s professional basketball team, the Heat, which now features superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
