A trend in travelling has been on the rise among Aussies looking to see the world while enjoying a comfortable, stylish holiday. Recently, the cruise industry has seen a surge in Australian tourist taking excursions to and from the country on a number of different trips, from family-themed cruises to luxurious journeys in exotic locales.

"Every year we are seeing more cruise ships based in Australia and more ships visiting our shores, taking the profile of cruising to new heights and prompting an unprecedented number of Australians to take to the seas for their holidays," said Gavin Smith, chairman of the International Cruise Control Australasia (ICCA).

The ICCA recently compiled a report that collected data about the cruising habits of Aussies and how they were taking these kinds of trips, reports Hospitality Magazine. Researchers found that although the world as a whole is going through unstable economic times, the cruising industry continues to expand and grow, offering new amenities on its upgraded ships and fresh itineraries to a number of interesting destinations.

The wide array of cruise vessels being introduced to the Australian market is enticing first-time and veteran passengers who want to try new things and experience the latest technologies and features of these excursions.  Another reason many Aussies are choosing to cruise is its  all-inclusive nature, with tickets often covering meals, transport, and accommodation. This can help save money for larger groups travelling together, whether they be families or friends.

According to Australia News ,roughly 150 ships are docked in Sydney alone in the peak summer season. One of the most popular destinations for cruising is New Zealand, which rose more than 80 percent last year as compared to 2010. Aussies also took more journeys within the country and to destinations throughout Europe and the South Pacific.

Aussies who want to try something new and fun should consider taking a cruise for their future adventure travel trip. These types of holidays can be fulfilling for families, honeymooning couples or even solo travellers. Cruises are able to take passengers on short breaks to other parts of Australia and can even be a way to reach part of Asia and beyond by ship.
